The Land Cruiser is build like this, cause you should fix it yourself, or in a garage everywhere in the world. Thats the reason its so oldschool. I have a 2007 Toyota with halogen headlights, but the bulbs i need for this car are rare to find. Most shops have to order them. The Land Cruiser is expensive, ok, but compare it with prices of BMW X7, Audi Q7, Mercedes GLE, and you will see, they are more expensive and these can't go as far offroad. Parts for them are expensive and weak in compare with Land Cruiser.

The Land Cruiser philosophy is simple. Build it simple, make repairs simple, make all reliable, so it will always run, everywhere. And with the right tyres and enough Gas he does exactly that.

I just rewatched Roman's 2017 LC review. Seems like the '08 is better than the '17.? Or maybe Roman was a bit biased when he did the '17 review. Tommy, you said they leave it alone because it works. The LC is what it is. The '08 passed many of your tests as is. That says a lot.

Our jeep eventful... was always exciting.. never knowing when you're actually going to break down again never knowing where you're going to end up stuck wondering when it's going to catch on fire again wondering when it's gonna throw another injector or lose reverse or just randomly spontaneously shit itself and leave you stranded with a hire car you never wanted in the first place

I own a 2007 Land Cruiser G with a standard transmission, and it has 870,000 KM with regular maintenance. I have never replaced anything in the car except the lights. I now also own a 2019 Land cruiser GX.R with an automatic transmission. Those cars are very popular in Qatar, the country I live in, and in the Arabian gulf in general. They are ultra durable and reliable off-road performance machines, for me its an all in one really. It is my off-road toy and my daily driver. The car does come with a hefty price but they can and will outlast you if you take care of the car properly, unlike all other car manufacturers.

I wish there was a split tail gate in Prado (LC150) as well. There is only few things I do not like in Prado and the side opening door is one of them. It will be hard for me to open it on most car parks in Japan.

You use the low crawl a lot on the high mountain trails. I used to have a 1994 Montero SR similarly equipped (low range, not crawl mode). You use the low-low range on the rocky, pebble, sliding rock roads with a 1000ft cliff on the side of the one-lane road. When you’re bouncing around it keeps your gas pedal under control both up and down hill and will keep that 5700lbs from gaining too much speed. My boys and I called it “monster gear” for the hardest work. I don’t think we could get over 5mph in it.

I can tell from the two videos that you’re excited to own this and over time you will find it justified. A great purchase and one of a kind vehicle. Go to the SanJuans down in the SW corner of the state near Silverton or Lake City and you will totally love it. Need better tires, though, BF Goodrich or similar.
