Interesting! When you floored it, I was assuming the rear wheels are smoking! But that quickly disappeared by the CVT reaction. This would be a really great long distance cruiser! The price however makes my eyes roll up! Still...I would buy it @ $85K...maybe... Kinda want to see the new M850 now...

Another great review. I think the interior could use some wood. I'm just a wood guy. The interior is too monochromatic. As for the power, I remember back in the days when 350hp was actually a lot of power. I know it's power: weight, but my old 225hp Mustang GT was considered by some to be relatively fast for its day for a stock car ('86) - Supra twin turbos aside.

it's not a CVT it's an E-CVT - that's a planetary gearset. jesus, everybody confuses this. There is no belt in an E-CVT, the planetary gearset is just programmed to mimic a CVT so that you have the best of both worlds.

Quite a car. I am dismayed by the continued use of light colored dash top materials. The glare on the windshield underside, is a fatigue causing feature. I'm surprised there aren't more complaints about this across the industry. Thanks

Beautiful, but other than that I don't really get the point of it. So heavy it isn't really a sports car, and only really seats two. Fine if it's a Celica, but this is an expensive ride and you're buying style and speed and not a lot else. What does it do a Stinger doesn't do better for half the price?

Love it! But a few things improvements that would make it better in my opionion:

      1. Better back-up camera system.
      2. Float bottom steering wheel
      3. Better infotainment system, that supports Apple car play/ Android Auto

The new LFA, meh... Not much to look at. Storm trooper grille is weird. Must drive like a mofo otherwise gimme an Alpha Romeo Giulia quadrofoglio, a Porsche 918 Spyder, or a BMW i8.

Nice review as always. This LC 500 is quite a car! I imagine it looks better in person than in review form... I maybe old school, but this car begs for a very nice wood interior option. Sadly that seems to be passing into history these days but I imagine the look would look just fabulous inside that cabin! Still, my flavor of LC 500 requires the use of a V8 and 4 wheel drive so I can drive worry free through out the year!

I think that would have been a great platform for The New Supra. With the V8 in the supra or a twin turbo v6 that puts out over 450hp.

100,000 is a lot of money, man. The car mages suck-up to their advertisers, and the fanboy comments on youtube make me wonder if Lexus isn't planting them. There are much better cars, for that kind of money.

First off, I am a Toyota fan. I've bought new 2014 Toyota Highlander and Scion xB.

BUT I test drove the LC 500 today and I can tell you that for $100k and 4 seats, I was NOT impressed. Why?
      1) Poor resale value
      2) No sunroof
      3) I hate the Lexus computer Automatic Trans shifter because it physically does not move. Also to park, you have to visually find the P button in the console. Then to put it into drive, I can't feel the D, I have to visually see on the dash that I moved it into P and it's a weird movement in which I have to move the lever left then move it down.
      4) No Apple Carplay.
      5) If you're gonna have 4 seats, my head should not be hitting the back window.
      6) Weird that there's 2 color stitching
      7) Cupholder with a water bottle blocks a/c controls
      8) Radar detector cord must be long and drag all the way back to the cigarette jack in the center console, just in front of the back seats.
      9) No flat bottom steering wheel
      10) Getting out of the back seat was almost impossible and I'm 47.

JC130676 he even mentioned flat bottom steering wheel as an issue 😂🤣. Clearly a biased German fan, how can anyone mention something that isn't remotely a problem with how the steering turms or affects the drive in any way be an issue? He is just looking for flaws to try and justify his favourite German brand that looks nothing as good as this exterior and interior. There's no point with this really, the only major draw backs on this car in my opinion is like he mentioned in the review no birds eye view or 360 surround camera view something even the Rx and other Lexus models way cheaper have. My 2nd biggest gripe is that it doesn't have an option for massaging seats. It should be an option afterall it's still a luxury coupe even though it's far more spirited than your average luxury sedan or Suv.

      1) Lexus has just about the best resale value, just google "Lexus resale value" if you don't believe me.
      2) Sunroof is available.
      3) That's just a matter of getting used to it. I did.
      4) There's more than just Apple. What's your point?
      5) Try sitting in the back seat of a Porsche 911 sometime.
      6) So the styling isn't 100% to your taste. And?
      7) That's why it's called a CUP holder and not a BOTTLE holder.
      8) Ever hear of extension cords? Or how about hardwiring it? Or just don't go above the speed limit so you won't need the detector?
      9) There's more than enough legroom.
      10) Once again, try it in a 911. Typical for this kind of car.

I don’t like how Lexus didn’t use the entire screen for the backup camera. Only around three fourths of it. Why? With these wide screen infotainment systems, a lot of manufactures will black out some of the screen for the camera. Alpha Romeo does this with the Guilia way worse.

    • JC130676
JC130676 In reply to Elliott Manning

I don't agree that that's all your paying for. It's also got a gorgeous exterior (although that's subject to taste), good performance while still having reasonable fuel consumption, plus excellent reliability and handling. A panoramic sunroof is nice but gets hot in the sun despite climate control and personally I've never seen the benefit of massaging seats. If you get stiff its a sign you've been driving for too long and should take a break.

Still, if you happen to have an LC 500h that you're not happy with just let me know and I'll buy it for a dollar. :-)

Elliott Manning In reply to Elliott Manning

That makes sense, or better yet it should have a 360 camera system. Your paying for a gorgeous interior with this car and that's mostly it. At that price, it's missing features, such as a panoramic sunroof, massaging seats, surround view camera, etc.

    • JC130676
JC130676 In reply to Elliott Manning

I'm guessing it's because you'd need a really wide angle camera to fill the screen. Such cameras always have distortion at the edges which will make it difficult to properly judge distances. But I completely agree that a car in this price range should have birds eye view.
