The audio in this video was recorded with in-ear binaural microphones. If you wear headphones, your mind won't be blown, but it will go, "woah, that's cool."

I'm also the producer for the Winding Road YouTube Channel:

Here on TheTopher, I'm known for putting a camera on my face and driving cars. Whether it's about any of my personal cars or reviews on weekly press vehicles, the goal is to give you an idea of what a certain car is like to drive or live with. Most of my videos are filmed in POV, with my clothes on, and (for like the 5th time) with in-ear binaural audio. Which, if I haven't made it clear yet, is why you should wear headphones. Because of the whole "woah" factor. It's there, trust me. Try it, it's pretty nuts. Or don't. As long as you whitelist me on your adblocker I'm okay with whatever you do or don't do with regards to headphone usage. That is all. Oh and I guess you should also probably subscribe. Why are you still reading this, you should be watching the video. With headphones! Hah, had to sneak that in there one more time. Later!

I actually like this Edge ST. It's not perfect, but with enthusiasts in mind I think it's one of the most well-rounded crossovers on the market. It pretty much does it all and makes little to no compromises with its performance, while still being fun in a "you just got smoked by a Ford Edge" way. It probably should be called the Edge Sport, ST-Line, or Edge SHO, but whatever. If you don't want to shell out $40-45k for one wait a few years, throw a tune on it, and decimate all at race wars.

Shift pedals are useless......maybe because they're small as F***.
The 8 speed transmission should be replaced with the 10 speed.

@Mike M there really isn't an increase. Dealership buy my house has a leftover Sport which the sticker is high 48k. They also have an ST and the sticker is low 49k. Exactly the same options. And I'm telling you drive both of them and Don't listen to the articles. I've been reading them saying the sport is actually quicker and I'm telling you it's BS. The ST has so much more torque down low and actually has a better ride. I was pleasantly surprised. The dealership actually quoted me 42k which I never expected. I'm seriously considering it.

So yea dealers are selling these most additional options MSRP 50k with discounts down to 42K if you shop. I'm thinking ppl don't like the boxy appearance. Fit and finish it's a Ford!

I looked at a lot of different things in detail before I got one of these ($43k fully loaded). After a month with it, I have no regrets. Apart from the base Stelvio, which is way smaller and less comfortable, I found nothing in its price range that can out-perform it.. The RDX A-Spec and new Blazer RS have nothing on it. It’s a good car. Sure, in its price range you can get something this size with nicer fit and finish, but you you won’t have as much fun it.

I really like this car. Some say it doesn't live up to what an ST should be. They're forgetting this is a much bigger car and will never be able to handle like a Focus ST does. When the Explorer ST comes out, the Edge will feel like a real sports car by comparison. The people that are making a big deal out of a few gaps that may be a little off obviously never looked closely at cars like Focus ST or RS or Fiesta ST. The fit and finish on those are far worse and people are mourning the loss of those.

Savage Geese said it best, "Thanks but no thanks". The only people who would defend this are Ford loyalists who'd buy anything they put their logo on. For a stupid box, it doesn't even justify its existence over their cheaper premium trims. Put an Edge ST up against any AMG or M offering...yeah, exactly. It's a dumb comparison because this thing is slower, bland looking, outdated, and a terrible value for the money spent. AMG or M might cost a good bit more, but you actually get something for that. At $35k this would maybe appeal to more, but Focus STs were $23-24k and often discounted from that. What genius at Ford thought to replace their previous more value conscious car with an overpriced one that most of those buyers can't afford and won't spend?

The cross section of buyers who'd even care about what this thing is trying to do and those who'd be willing to pay it is so small as to have not even been worth the lazy effort Ford put in throwing some ST badges on an Edge Sport and shoehorning in extra gears lazily into an existing transmission so they could say it had more speeds. That's some '50s-60s era lazy cost cutting engineering.

To all those out there who buy based on magazine articles, I'm telling you don't. I just test drove one and to the idiots who say the sport is quicker I say they're foolish. The ST has much more torque down low, it handles better and actually has a better ride. As far as price goes the leftover Sport they had retailed for high 48k and the ST was low 49k. I was actually quoted 42k which I thought was fabulous. The biggest surprise to me was how good the ride actually was. Probably will be my next vehicle.

The Edge ST looks amazing and is a blast to drive. However, I think it is targeted more toward older drivers, 30+ that want / need the practicality that an SUV offers and has the extra discretionary income for it. People that are complaining about the price of a loaded ST being 50K should consider that a boring Toyota Highlander can creep up to near 50K also. A similarly spec Macan with less HP is near 67K.

gregertech tech You may be one of only a handful here that actually understands where Ford is going with this car. The people crying about the Focus ST wouldn't be looking for a car like the Edge, no matter what they did to it.

gregertech tech I think that is exactly the point. The target buyer would never buy a fiesta or focus (me). I can’t imagine driving such a small car as a father/homeowner. The edge is a perfect size for those who don’t need a 3rd row and the performance the ST provides rivals that of vehicles 10k more yet is as economical as vehicles 10k less.
