I remove the hood so you can see what i try to show with the camera.
The hood is protected from eventual impacts up there.

In all sincerity and as a mechanic, I tell you that you are a hoax. 200,000 km and do not change the valves and valve seats ???? And you have not even leveled the head ???? But go to work in Romania !!!

      michaelovitch In reply to WiLdSoLdIeR

Why would change the valves and valve seats at on ly 200 000 kms ?
You can see that everything is in good shape 14:55 ,a lot of engines last nearly twice that without being repaired , or simply refreshed like here.
Also,no need to resurface the head if it's flat : )

We only have the 1.7 with a carb here as i know.

In my opinion you should have replaced the hydraulic lifters, they don't cost that much and i think they are worn out because of that valve noise that is not going away even at higher RPM. I wonder also, why have you loosen the head bolts after first tightening? In the instructions i think it says to just tighen it in a couple steps, isn't it? Cheers from Poland.

They are mechanical lifters,i adjusted the shims thickness a bit after, and it's silent now. (mechanical lifters are noisy compared to hydraulic lifters, even if they are working properly
There is no oil cushion in the mechanical lifter)
We had to loosen the bolts once the gasket was compressed ,to tighten it again to an angular value after an other bigger but still small torque value.(it's just the gasket manufacturer's instructions)
We even messed that up,we should have loosened and tightened again each bolt BUT one by one, and not all at once like we did...
Cheers from France, next to Lyon : )

It's just a head which was removed, ported a bit ,cleaned and got few seals changed.
It had zero problems ,so no need to surface it : )
It's running well : less choke is needed and it's pulling more "crisp".
