I think Subaru's are very safe cars, I now have my 4th Subaru, it is a 2011 Legacy, has over 100,000 miles, Only problem is drivers window not working. Hope to be able to afford an Impreza (used one) someday.

I find this test so unconventional. No woman would ever sit that close to the dashboard in the passenger seat. In the owners manual it says sit as far away from the airbag as possible. So why is this dummy so close? I want to see how she would react to the airbag with the seat all the way back like it should be. Would she even touch or even get the benefits of the airbag?

I'm no feminist but to think only women would sit in the passenger seat is really dumb. The passenger seat is seated by everything to the mcdonald bag to the old grand-pa so men included and they deserve every bit of protection. Yes it would be the same if the passenger would be further, you can only be too close of a airbag because it can kill you by deploying. Normally there is some sensor that will controle the explosion of the airbag so it doesn't hit you too hard based on the weight and seating position. Tho there is a limit, if you drive like those grand-ma where they can kiss the steering, it will kill you.
