***A lot of people have been asking me about dash cams and yes I did forget to mention that in the video. Dash cams are a great way to have evidence in the event of an accident and many other things as well. I get dozens of dash cams every year to try out and this is my recommendation for a dash cam, it's not cheap but it's by far the best with the most features and easiest to use, if you want to the best get this, if not there's tons of other dash cams out there just look around:

Thankfully, I have not been in an accident in quite some time but I bought a Front and rear Dash Cam for my vehicle for reasons such as this. The main reason I bought one is for when im parked and away from my vehicle. My example is when my friends and I went to Darien Lake for a concert (Disturbed, Saint Asonia and Breaking Benjamin) we had some fun in the park first and upon coming back to the car to put our stuff in there, the bumper was all messed up from a guy in a RAM pickup truck running his tire against the bumper. Thankfully, there were 2 witnesses that reported it prior to this and we waited 2 hours for police to show up, (They had an incident at Darien Lake where 2 parents left their kid at the park. Dropped him off and just left) but, they had the guys license plate info and it got taken care of by their insurance.

After that, I decided to get a Megellan Front and Rear Dash Camera which also worked when the car was off to record 24/7. Nothing has happened since then but I do have a peace of mind now and having a dash cam is great for just recording dumb drivers as well. Or close encounters with car destroying assholes. (deer) Happy I got a Dash Cam system.

+brotherscro Dashcams in Croatia are allowed
. Just have to be aware for privacy regulations, Also certain objects like country borders should not be recorded.
I've never been or ever want to go to Croatia but a simple google search might help instead of the lies you post online. I guess ignorance is bliss.

Here in Croatia it's actually illegal to use dashcams :( Even if you have evidence on dashcam that it's not your fault for accident or something else it can't be admitted as evidence

Seriously. 20 bucks for a cheapo one can save you a ticket if it wasn't your fault. You clear the memory once a week and you don't worry about it. It automatically turns on.

Scotty needs uninsured motorist insurance in Texas. Half of those uninsured drivers are Illegal Aliens! Try to get money from one of those🙄...

If you live in a border state make sure to get a cop there if you get wrecked by someone you think is not a US citizen. That goes for Canadians as well as Mexicans. People are far more reluctant to show a phony ID to a cop than to you. Besides showing it to a cop is a crime and you don’t count. Also insurance companies outside the US will often just blow off minor claims because they know it will cost you more to sue them than the damage😖. Been there got that tee shirt myself.

Here’s one I saw enough myself as a cop a few times ,Women! Yea hate me libbers but you too should watch out for this. When some get in an ugly wreck but aren’t hurt noticeably look for signs of extreme agitation. If they start flipping out running around at least stay between them and the road. Grab them if you really have to so they don’t become a hood ornament on a semi. They snap out of it quick in my experience but in the mean time keep them out of the road. They will thank you in a minute or two. Oh, then reach in and turn on her 4 way flashers because I’ve never seen one yet who even knew what the were🥶. There now bring on the 🔥 .......

I was hit from behind on the freeway by a 21-yr-old female in a truck. I was the middle car in a
3-car collision. But since when I pulled over, I was the last car, the policeman thought I’d caused the collisions. He forced me to get out of my car & I collapsed because I’d bled in my brain. I have seizures to this day years later. I don’t know how to prevent encountering dangerous policemen. I tried to tell him that if someone possibly had a cervical fracture, he shouldn’t force them to get out of their car. But he still wouldn’t listen and forced me.
It’s horrible not to have a protector for your safety. Even when the ER said to see a Neurologist, twelve different neurologists refused to take on accident insurance claims’ cases. Still, go to the ER right away. If you wait for a month, even accident attorneys defer a case.

If you witness an accident, write down everything that you can to assist the victims, because they’re in physiologic shock. Write down which lane each car was in; which direction each were driving; street names; intersections; date & time of accident; names & numbers of witnesses. Help the victims collect the proper info. Some policemen won’t write a police report. Instead they write an incident report.

Once I witnessed a hit and run. So I followed the car that drove away and took photos of their license plate from behind. But I forgot to take a photo of the person who was driving the car. I gave the info to the police and they had the victim call me and their insurance called me. The victim thanked me. It’s horrible to see someone drive away from the scene of an accident that they’d caused.

Don't let anyone, not even the cops, touch your dash cam or cell phone if you can help it. For all you know the cop may be the other driver's relative! You have to download everything before letting anyone touch your personal and private records. Upload to the ☁️ pronto, where no one can find your personal and private information.

Always take VIDEOS. Still pictures can be derived from the video if needed.
First thing to video is the other driver, any passengers and any witnesses. Then, or at the same time, video both vehicles from all angles.
It's been four months since I was rear-ended and my left foot is still giving pain, is swollen even though the X-rays didn't show any breaks. I'm having headaches in the back of my head where the head restraint bashed my head, causing me to black out and have blurred vision. My lower sides are still tender from where the seat bolsters slugged me as the seat was breaking.
So don't be quick to say that you're OK.
Oh, BTW, SURPRISE! SURPRISE!! the SUV was UNINSURED. My uninsured motorist insurance is paying what my other coverage doesn't cover.
I told the tow operator to take the car to my house and gave the address. He took it to his tow-in lot anyway. I couldn't do anything as I was being loaded into the ambulance.
As it turned out it didn't matter as the my insurance company totaled the car and bought it.
Just in time, too, as it was due for a timing belt and other services and repairs.

From experience I can say that when someone hits you that you need to actually get out of the car and immediately get their plate number because I've had people drive off twice after hitting me in the back, once on the highway and once in residential traffic. Sped up and got the one person's number and they had already called the cops to let them know that they had hit someone after they realized that I was tailing them. But people will hit and run so you need to be immediately focused on getting that person's car description and plate number.

I understand that most of your video revolved around accidents where it was the other person's fault, but if it's your fault, that's a different story. 1:12. "Don't say it was your fault for the accident. Don't take responsibility for anything." Sorry Scotty, but that's the problem with a lot of people today. Very few drivers willing to take responsibility for their own actions. Instead, they try to blame it on someone else and let's say they do get away with it. Are you saying that it's OK to have an innocent driver pay for your own mistakes? Why not be honest and admit that it was your fault? Why not take responsibility for your own actions rather than trying to dump that responsibility on someone else? I know you're in favor of honest mechanics. Why not be in favor of honest drivers?

I got in a wreck years ago I got hit in the rear by uninsured motorist, my insurance company fix my car, took him to court and sued the other individual for the damages. And I guess the court awarded more than what they paid to fix the car cuz about 2 years later I got a check in the mail that was extra from the suit. Needless to say it was a nice surprise.

Been driving for 25 years. Never had an accident, never been around one, never seen one. Been there right after it happened. You can influence other drivers to acknowledge you by doing a few simple things like:
using turn signals before you turn, slowly merging into lanes
      avoid driving on blind spots
      Using hazards in dangerous zones
Avoid driving next to clusters of other cars.
Slowing down to normal speed limits
      Let others pass you
Always know where others are and keep a good distance
      Never rush when driving
      Respect others
Make sure your car breaks, tires, lights, is operational.
Avoid rush hour traffic if you can leave early or 2 hours later than 5 pm or 8-9 am.
Avoid driving in the rain, heavy snow etc.
I hope I can safe a life. I took a defensive driving course and it was useless.

I would say admit fault if it’s a minor accident that was unquestionably your fault, like for example back in 2009 I accidentally took my foot off the brake while grabbing something in my back seat and slowly rolled into the car in front of me causing minor damage. There was no reason not to just apologize and get it over with

For after the accident: DON'T talk to the insurance company of the person who hit you. I handled an accident on my own and screwed myself based on the rather innocent things I said. Though at fault, they were not even paying my medical bills. I basically got help only after I hired an attorney. He was only able to get about 10% of what I could have got because of not letting a skilled attorney deal with them. My settlement basically covered only the bills with nothing for injury treatment so never again.
Go to the doctor, do what they say, and miss time at work if needed since going to work makes it look like you are fine. Tell their insurance company: " Call my attorney." Going without an attorney means that company will covertly try to screw you over like they did to me while being nice to you on the phone and in emails. They are NOT concerned about your well being, only about making the pay out as small as possible or nothing at all.

dortot1, that's really good advice. I had something similar happen to me years ago, where the other insurance company called me (I assumed it was my insurance company), and then started asking me questions. I didn't know any better, said a few things that I probably should not have and then realized that this guy was leading me on. That's when I asked who this was and promptly hung up.

If you have a dashcam and it's your fault, if the cop asks you if the camera was rolling, you say, "I don't answer questions." YOU DON'T HAVE TO ANSWER QUESTIONS! It's called the fifth amendment!
