The Lancia Thema 8:32 was so named because it had a 3.0litre Ferrari V8 in its nose. It was also the car Enzo Ferrari chose to be chauffeured around in. After living with it for a few weeks, I can see why..

Did not expect such a mad throaty roar--sounds more American than a Ferrari V8.

The Thema was a bog ugly car but I always lusted after the 8.32, the interiors of Lancias from that era was er, interesting! Didn't that thing have electronic adaptive dampers as well as the pop-up spoiler? That lovely Ferrari V8 made a great noise.

The much earlier Fiat Dino had a Ferrari engine.

The good old Lancia Thema 8.32 really was a gem with a Ferrari V8 off a 308.

Back in the 80's my dad had a Thema 2.0ie.
The local Lancia garage called him one day to say they had a car for him to take a look at, turns out it was the 8.32.
As the old man had not had his 2.0ie all that long and didn't want to part with more money, he declined.
The 8.32 that was being offered had been made to order for some chap who subsequently decided to up sticks and move to the Channel Islands.
Due to the fact that he couldn't get out of 3rd gear, he put the car up for sale.
This is the one that got away as my dad now refers to it.

Wonderful sounding engine but slightly less power and slower acceleration than the Saab version!? Also - is this front wheel drive like the 9000? I don't think you mentioned it.

Lovely video Harry. I drive a simpel 2.0 thema in Black and it is an absolute joy! My family also has a 3.0 with the 8.32 interior in black. The amount of leather always impresses me very much! :)

I remember in the 1980's the Lancia Thema (and not necessarily the 8:32) was the car of choice of the Italian upper class. Comfortable, classy if not beautiful, and most important not conspicuous.

I discovered only after making this video Enzo Ferrari's favourite car to be driven in (up until he died) was an 8:32. Wish I could have added this wonderful factoid to the video..

Something so right about this car, when I was a lot younger; this car was viewed as being a real “Q” car.....Italian cool again

Your channel is like a rare Italian car, it stirs up emotions like envy, lust, exhilaration (acceleration?), and of course love. Thank you very much.

Just one word of warning ... it is front wheel drive. Lancia/Fiat didn’t go all the way, unlike MG/Rover with the 75/ZT 260, which was converted to V8 AND rear-wheel drive.

If I could afford a Ferrari THIS is what I would get. No one would know it's a Ferrari. How funny to tell someone I drive a Ferrari, they ask to see it, and show them this Lancia. Hilarious. It's like when I put my Rolex Daytona on a nylon nato strap, no one looks twice, no one notices or comments, ever.

It would be very interesting to compare this to an Alfa Romeo 164Q with the 24v 3.0L.
