That equates to around £5200 a little dear but at $5500 its the right money.. it should have all the documentation and service history.. take it for a long test drive and check it goes into reverse lots and lots through the test drive.. I show people how to service the smart cars and do basic repairs in a detailed way.

I have had two and had them for 5 years .. never broken down once.. both are daily drivers.. I maintain mine regularly and started a channel to show others how.. ignore the haters, dont ignore the servicing. :)

Thinking of buying a 2012 fortwo with about 44,500 miles on it. It's from a trusted dealership. They want $6900 for it even though I'm sure he'll go down to $5500. Is it worth it?

It isn't smart to pay twice as much for a car half the size. I do like Smarts but they make no financial sense that I can see.

I test drove one and hated how it shifted. I wanted a diesel for the mpgs but I just got a really cheap TDI VW golf and love that car
They stopped making gas and diesel models they just have electric models now

Low miles because they're always broken. A Toyota will go 200-300,000 miles.

iv had my 2011 451 1.0 mhd for over a year and had no problems at all, does about 40-45 to the gallon and offcourse the free road tax is great. the only 1 bad thing is the gearbox, but you get used to it after awhile, it loves changing up but sometimes a bit late changing down so u end up still in 5th when ideally you need 3rd

I just bought a 2006 to drive to work as my 6 cylinder was killing me on gas. I am driving over an hr one way and wanted something good on mileage. I am now fearful of cost of maintenance. Especially after reading some of these posts.

We leased two Smart Car electric coupes, twice. We have been driving them for 5 years in Los Angeles. $1,500 due at signing on a 3 year lease. CA gives us a $2,500 cash rebate. The car costs $142 a month for 36 months. Maintenance is $145 a year fixed for two years, you give the car back on the 3rd year with no re-acquisition fees. I put a 220Volt charger on my driveway at a cost of $550. and the local utility company gave me a $1,200 rebate. I switched to a Time-Of-Use Meter on my house and charge after 8pm or anytime during the weekend after Friday Night 8pm-Monday Morning 10am at 0.03kwh. My electric bill actually dropped 35% with two Smart Cars charging on it from the days when I had a tiered system for power consumption without electric cars. My Volvo used $5,600 in gasoline in a 3 year period prior to leasing these cars. Both electric cars cost less than the fuel costs alone in the same time frame. And they are cute cars, zero emissions, a perfect city car in a city that offers free charging all over the place. I can put 13 bags of groceries in them. The car is rated at 68 miles per charge which seems like it would create range-anxiety, but once you understand your driving habits in Los Angeles it actually works out just fine for us and if you know how to drive it properly you can consistently get 90 miles from that same charge. I went to the gas station twice last year for my Volvo. They are not for everybody, but we love um.

Hi! I have a Smart Roadster Coupe with over 200 000 km on speedo. Oil change is 3 litre, costs about 40 dollars(Motul, Castrol or Mobil1), 6 spark plugs to change at every 50 000 km another 50 bucs, air filter 10 bucs, etc. I have a 82 horse power engine and over 47 miles per gallon of gasoline consumption. I think this is very cheap. No real issues with the car and I can assure you that guy who charged you hundreds of dollars for repairs is ripping you off. Tyres? Well, mine use to wear 205x45x16 and all four costs around 200 or 300 dollars if premium is needed. It is a difference between Smart 42 and my Roadster-Coupe. If You wanna drive a Smart you should buy a 44 or a 452 at least.
