The Ford as usual has a display on the dash that looks like it’s an afterthought just like the outside design always has on everyone of their vehicles

The Kia's interior is reason enough to not buy the Ford. Huge difference in quality materials.

You can NOT beat the price of the Telluride or Palisade. That’s why they’re so hard to come by right now. Been waiting for my Telluride since September. It’ll be worth the wait!

The Explorer has the image of beinfg a basic family hauler. There's nothing wrong with that, but the Telluride is far more luxurious . Telluride should be compared to so called luxury brands like Caddy, Lincoln, BMW, Audi, or Mercedes. As a former Audi owner, I can say that my new Telluride is more posh and has a higher quality of luxury fit and finish than any of the luxury brands. Telluride was actually designed by engineers hired away from Audi and Mercedes. It's no wonder Telluride won a 5 star safety rating in all categories along with being awarded Motor Trends luxury suv of the year.

My biggest issue with the telluride is the weak ass towing capability. Only 5000lbs. Should be at least 6000

Good review, and not disagreeing with the outcome since I haven't driven these. I do think your points calc for price messes everything up, however, since depending on your budget $3k might be negligible to you at this price point. In your measure that's the single most important factor, which really isn't how people choose a car.

Well, at this point there is no savings anymore, most of the Kia dealerships are adding between $7000 to $10000 markup.

Telluride wins by a wide margin. Explorer is a respectable family hauler, but Telluride is a luxury suv that is superior in tech, safety, styling, warranty, and value. Telluride is unlike other Kias in that it is far more luxurious, and was in fact engineered y staff hired from BMW and Mercedes. It looks like Range Rover in front, Lincoln on the side, Volvo or Caddy from behind, and the interior is like BMW and Mercedes. Explorer looks less innovative and plain by comparison.
My friends call my Telluride a luxury limo with suv capabilities, while the Explorer seems far less luxurious and more like a rough truck. That doesn't mean Explorer is bad. It just means that Explorer lacks the luxury refinements of Telluride. Maybe that's why Telluride is Motor Trends suv of the year.

Explorer- because kia fd up. Kia is nice, but because kia kept it under 6000lbs the explorer is way cheaper for business purchase to tax issues, Somalia fd up by about 30 kbs...lmao

this is a no brainer, I would take the Ford Explorer any day. With 400 HP, the ST version would smoke the Telluride. Plus your looking at only a 8k price difference. And lets face it, that Telluride will be worth half in 2 years.

what makes the kia so great is where it’s priced and the large number of features that come in it with that’s standard vs the competition

FYI all new Kia key fobs are designed with the buttons on the side to reduce false signals with keys in pocket & the 120V outlet in the Kia is a child safety outlet!

Ford has incentives for the Explorer. The Explorer limited has a $8k incentive which makes them around $42k around here.

The Explorer sounds hollow and tinny and their voices echo inside. The Kia sounded hushed in comparison. Also, the Kia sound system sounded better and the interior looked much more upscale. Plus you get a six cylinder in the Kia vs a four cylinder in the Ford and the Kia warranty is much better at a price $7,000 lower. I think the Kia wins by a large margin. Ford is going to have to up its game.

Poor color to compare on video. Compare White with White. Grey with Grey. Red with Red. Certain colors exude more value, sportiness, and economy than others.

I am a fan of Kia but my family just got the 3.0 V6 400HP / 415 pound feet of torque Explorer ST and the telluride can’t compete.

Granted the Ford Explorer ST after tax title fees was 54k. The MSRP was 62,020 but with negotiations and rebates got it down to 54k...

Some of the favorite amenities: The massage seats, wireless phone charge pad, automatic high beam headlights, rain sensing wipers, heated steering wheel, heated front and rear 2nd row seats, a/c seats up front, WiFi hot spot, ST puddle lamp lights, larger 10.1” NAV screen, 14 speaker audio system, panoramic sun roof, Sport Tuned Suspension, 0-60 in 5.2 seconds, top speed 142mph governed. That’s a 10th of a second faster than the 1991 GMC Typhoon.

Rear wheel drive feels so much better than the Kia’s bias to the front wheel drive. Power 3rd row... Kia’ 3rd row is manual only. Kias mpg is 19 city/24 highway, where the explorer compared in the video gets 20 city/28 hwy awd. With Explorer ST that we have it’s rated at 18 city/24 highway and our ST is the fastest SUV available in the market under 60k.

The AWD also has hill decent control, trailer sway control for pulling the ski boat, 5,600 lbs Max Trailer Weight, that’s 600lbs more than the Kia, and terrain management system, 255 wide tires on 21” wheels. Keyless entry key pad virtually invisible, etc... The Explorer is a stand out better vehicle.

Don’t get me wrong the Kia is a nice car but Kia’s price is artificially lower. They are making their cars lower in price to gain market share. The Ford Explorer ST is in a different league. It has better tech, performance, and comfort than the comparable Range Rover, Mercedes, and better value and usable power than the Durango SRT.

All in all I’ll go back to what I started out saying... it’s a disservice to compare styling very well when not comparing the same color side by side.

That would be a great thing to have and we totally agree with you but unfortunately, this is the real-world for us. We have only certain colors on certain lots in our area and only certain colors for certain trim levels of each car. It would be virtually impossible to find an appropriately comparable model in the exact color with another model every time... although it would be great if we could! Hope you understand!

The Telluride is in the luxury category while the Explorer is a basic driver. They should not be in the same category. It has been said that the Telluride is like a luxury Lexus disguised as a KIA. I especially like the Telluride “KLexus” badges
