Hey Scotty, I would love to see your opinion on the ford 5.4L. 2v, 3v and 4v. Curious cause I have 2v and they seem alot more reliable than a 3v but my friends still make fun of me for having an unreliable motor

Thoughts on Arcimoto? It’s basically an electric version of the elio but it’s more refined and electric.

I'm reserved all in, my # is 9003. I no longer have room for an Elio as I got tired waiting and now have 3 motorcycles. Why 3? Why not. They make money for me when I rent them out.

I was able to drive one of the mockups with the Geo Metro engine. I actually don't think the intention was to have it be used for contra flow lanes. They actually put out articles about wanting to avoid forcing buyers to get a motorcycle license. I think they got stuck between their two big claims and realized they couldn't deliver on either. The initial offering was supposed to be 81mpg minimum at $3,700. Realistically they would have done better to concede on the mpg and go down as low as 70 mpg and potentially up to $5,000. I still think this would have worked. It's difficult in today's market to get even a used vehicle near $5k. Much less one with that great mileage. I think he was also pretty adamant about creating his own engine so that he had an asset to keep the company going, but he never found it. Think about it...if the only thing that was special about the Elio was that it was smaller and lightweight, had a 3 cylinder engine that was obtainable for anyone and marketed at $4k you would instantly be put out of business by a larger company that could achieve the same results with better manufacturing practices than you. It's a shame that it didn't gather more traction because it would have been the Dollar shave club of the auto industry. Forcing the big guys to make an affordable high mileage option. However, looks like it's not going to go into production and rather than create videos and comments relishing the failure we as Americans should be sad because it's really a loss for the little guy and a big win for the greedy 10%

Mr Elio made a HUGE mistake by not going with an electrical drivetrain,. He spent a lot of money having others design a small gas powered engine, when he could have bought an electric motor off the shelf. He had all of the makings of the first practical electric car, the car always lying Elon Musk claimed was his goal. High fuel mileage body design means you only need a small battery and that battery can be recharged quickly. Right now Electra Meccanica has a three-wheeled electric car about to go into production called the SOLO, with $2.4 BILLION in preorders . But it can only carry a single passenger. Cost $15,500 minus $7500 Federal tax credit - net $7500 vehicle.

I understand so many think it was a scam or would never be a success but I think there is a potential for it. I'd buy one just for my daily commute to work for the price and I have a fuel efficient 2017 Mazda RF. Just the peace of mind not worrying about some dingbat dinging my door would be worth it to me. I'm the person who parks farthest away....and appreciates my vehicles no matter how new or how old. I also think the car could be sold overseas...where fuel is like $5 a gallon. I hope it's built...but time will tell. I will 100% buy one myself if/when it does...

I was under the impression that this was never meant to be a single Drive wheel design. Even the early prototypes were two wheel front wheel drive models. The only reason that that sticks in my mind clearly is because of driving conditions where I live in Northeast Ohio where Winter traction is a concern. Did something change?

Elio has had the uphill battle since it is trying to be a new American car manufacturer not seen in about 40 years. They did get almost every state to allow a classification for the car to be an auto cycle (I think thats the name) which will be treated like a car. if they don't get the production going this year then it could be all over but they did get a major multi million investment fund last year.

,Well Scotty is very interesting I like to make hay, so it's good talk to you. Remember the Tucker car first with first with helicopter engine, thre eyes head lights, pop out windshield. Than they made seatbelts, and they produce every single one because of 58 cars, and embarrassed the United States Air Force and then United States government. After all that they were not allowed to make another car because of a false pride done

Elio has collected around $25M in reservation deposits, 65K reservations .. and they are now running a "reservation sale" ... LOL, for the fools who think they actually will make a car. Somebody is making $Millions$ off this half-assed startup attempt.

All Elo had to do was start cranking out cars.
Even if they had done it slowly. Just to PROVE they really were going to sell them.
After the first couple of years. Everyone figured out they were a scam.
And all those people who gave them $100 to a $1000 were getting ripped off. Never to see their new car or their money ever again.

Ugh I have a deposit down on one of these since 2014. Yeah it has been awhile... FANTASTIC idea and really cool but it appears to be a total fail and $1000 down the drain. It was a gamble and I had the money to play with so if they ever build it I am #6931

I never liked the design from the start (nor did I like the Aptera) because the front wheel joint appears as the weak link to the car's stability. I wouldn't want to be in an Elio in any level of crash. Plus, the protrusion wheels make pulling into any kind of drive-thru difficult.
