Luis, Cruz, and I kick off the beginning of summer by meeting up for a beautiful ride down Lake Short Drive on a hot spring day. Luis and I are ripping our new Honda Rebel 500's. Cruz is cruising on his Suzuki Boulevard M50. This vid has chill moments, deep moments, adrenaline moments, funny moments, etc. Grab a coffee, kick back, and relax as we take you on a journey.

1 Jn.2:15-17 and remember 1 Jn.5:19 and 2 Cor.6:14-18 and regard not the word of mankind; for the wisdom of man is mere foolishness to our God, Ro.1:17-32~!~ I bet after riding with those shadows, you want to drop a tooth in the front and rear sprocket now don't you? The only thing missing is helmet communications and a bigger bike to stay up with the big ones on top end and then you would have something then.

jackchase79 yes it happens every once in a while. When that happens, you just have to let the clutch fully out, then pull it back in, and try to go in gear again. That usually works 100% of the time

I'd say maybe go for the Rebel 300 just because it's smaller and easier to learn on. I started on a 300 and had a blast. But yeah the 500 is a great first bike too so I'm sure she could take that on if she wanted.

Nice vid! Now I've seen how my dream bike would run. How does it feel cruising for almost an hour? Does the handle bar vibrate much?

    • Chris Mathy
Chris Mathy In reply to Jake W

You could cruise no problem for an hour. The handlebars don't vibrate very much, if at all. I've noticed that after about 2 hours or so my back kinda starts to hurt but that is because i slouch in the seat. If i sit up more straight with better posture it feels great. You could ride all day if you want

wow that looks FUN. i kinda like the CB500F more. Same price sam engine (different tune tho). A few of the custom Rebel 500's looked impressive, i hope they get super popular.
I consider the 300 the 'beginners'. A 500 can stick with you for a while, nice size imo.

BunnyJr Hopper yea honestly in hindsight I would’ve maybe been happier with the cb500f for my riding. But the Rebel 500 looks so damn good it makes up for it. Even though the rebel 500 is a cruiser. It rides so good and has a lot of traction. Test ride both if you can and see what you like more

I'm thinking of getting one of these for my first motorcycle, but I'm really lightweight, 6 feet tall and close to 120 pounds. Considering the bikes weight do you think it's something I can get used to or do you think I'll have trouble manoeuvring her?

    • Charlie Pierce
Charlie Pierce In reply to SurajGuitarMedium

At 6 ft you may be a little too tall to comfortably ride the Rebel. It is one lightest bikes, so if you plan to ride the mass is not rally a challenge.

Another option is CB500F, same engine and price plus you can get a centerstand if ya want.
The riding position on the rebel might be more comfortable, i plan to sit on both as well as Ninja 400. I think the 500's would make a much better real-world bike than the Ninja 400, and i love naked bikes.

Hey Mathy. How's the steering on the Rebel 500? Do you feel like the handlebars fight you a bit in the tight turns or does it stay planted when leaning in? The handling on the balloon tires worries me a bit as I tested a used Rebel the other day and found slow turning a bit of a pain (as if one needed to keep those handlebars down with extra force because they just weren't keen on stayinh put half-way through a corner.)

Haha well at least you are honest about it. Besides, won't know until you find out, and it should prove to be an exciting journey. People tend to swear on one style of bike and never really experiment with anything that falls outside of that category. For me right now it's a decision between the Rebel and the Z650.

    • Chris Mathy
Chris Mathy In reply to Shaun Peters

Thats true. I know people always say that about cars, that it is much more fun to be able to drive a car that you can floor and get the revs up, rather than a car that you have to hold back on. But Idk, I am driving on the highway pretty frequently, and on the highway it can do 70-80 no problem. But pushing it to 100+ takes everything the bike has and some time. I think I will someday own a sportbike (probably cbr600rr) just to have that experience. and who knows, maybe I will go back to something like the rebel. Because I will agree, around town and commuting it is extremely fun to be able to twist that throttle and beat on it. Does it need more power? Not at all. I just want more >:)

Ive heard the radiant cycles slip ons arent good for the bike, is this true? Also is there a loss in power ? Thanks

    • Chris Mathy
Chris Mathy In reply to Jason X7

Motive X7 I cannot comment on the loss of power because I put the slip on on the bike the first day I got it. But there is plenty of power. And I don’t think it’s bad for the bike. Some people who are super nervous about hurting the bike might claim it is. But I think it’s fine
