so im gonna be that guy, isnt the long middle one in front the resonator and item he straight piped was the mid muffler? this makes no sense he shows a picture of 2x 24235 but clearly only 1 item is installed. then he has 2 different part numbers in the description?

For clarification, you bought both Dynomax products in the links you provided? one for the mid muffler replacement and one for the resonator?

    • BakeryPilot
BakeryPilot In reply to steven ceron

I used the longer, since typically longer and smaller diameter mufflers are quieter. That does not mean the shorter one is bad. My setup in the video is the longer version.

Thanks for asking...No, I bought one(part # 24235). The reason I listed both is because some people like the bigger diameter and shorter Bullet muffler.

Hi BakeryPilot-thanks for your videos I really enjoy them and are very informative! I am very interested in the Stage 3 mod for my 06 TL (Base). I just got off the phone with an exhaust shop and they said that this mod might eventually cause some issues such as leaks down the road. Have you experienced this or do you agree? They recommended the full catback exhaust work instead, which I know will be more expensive. They will call me back with a price for both. All I really want is a deep, semi-mean and sophisticated sound (just like yours) but I don't want/need to spend too much money on it. Your thoughts? Thanks!

Hey bro, got the stage 3 mod done a couple weeks ago. It sounds a lot better as audio in a video than in person. In audio I can really hear the deep thump. I like it, after all it is a mod and not a full on catback exhaust job. Thanks for all the info it was very helpful!!

BakeryPilot In reply to Al Vega

I think it's a matter of preference...If I had a TL-base, then I would just keep the factory tips and maybe re-polish them. Normally base TLs with dual tips are not executed well, unless its a full aftermarket exhaust. People have put Type-S exhaust(muffler/tips) on base TLs, but that requires a new rear bumper.

    • Al Vega
Al Vega In reply to Al Vega

Ok great, thanks. Final question, I promise (you are knowledgeable and give solid advice): Would you recommend getting exhaust tips as well? I love the dual tips instead of the stock. Pros cons with that? Or just a matter of preference?

Nice sound man! Quick question, I wanted to do the same exact mod to my car. You mentioned to replace the mid mufflers with the Dynomax Bullet Mufflers and to remove the resonator and replace it with a straight pipe. Did you buy the straight pipe for the resonator part or did the muffler shop provide one?

    • BakeryPilot
      BakeryPilot In reply to Tinytimmay

Sorry for the late reply...I had the muffler shop provide the pipe. They usually have extra spare/scrap pipes all over the shop. Most shops won't charge for the pipe. Good Luck, you'll love the sound.

Whats up brotha, just bought mine, you think i should leave the resonator on? I've seen other comments on other videos saying it's too loud.. what's your experience on the loudness?

    • BakeryPilot
BakeryPilot In reply to Joe meats

Hey man, I'll be honest...It's not loud at all. It's really a happy medium of aggression and sophistication...Cold start is the only time it MIGHT sound too aggressive(and that's being super critical). Everyone's perception of "loud" is different..That's very subjective. I think it's the right balance. Removing the resonator is part of the steps to making it a Stage-3 mod. Check out my other video that has interior sounds clips as well as more external external audio: https://youtu.be/WfBkHs8YR3g

Hey man, I wanted to ask about the drone with that setup? What’s it like in the city/Highway?. I think I want to do this setup. It just seems perfect 👌🏼 not too loud yet a noticeable difference. On my previous TL I had everything below the resonator straight piped and it sounded pretty good up in the high RPM’s but mannn the drone was just unbearable!! It gave me headaches /: maybe I’m just weak 😂. But I’d really appreciate it if you’d reply to my comment.

    • BakeryPilot
BakeryPilot In reply to Chris Lewis

These are universal mufflers and not really specific to our cars. Either one can work, and your muffler shop can expand/shrink the pipes to your car existing diameter. Generally, the longer the muffler/resonator, the more suppressed the exhaust tone will be. This comes down to personal taste. I wanted a quieter tone, therefore I opted for the longer "bullet muffler".

Link is in the description for current prices on the muffler. I really don't remember the cost to have it installed. That's going to vary from muffler shop to muffler shop. I think I paid around $20.00 to $30.00, but I was a regular customer at the time. Just shop around and ask for price quotes before having it installed.
