      There great UNTIL....the timing chain stretches, the cam phaser go bad, the coil packs and spark plugs fail because of the condensate coming from the intercooler, and the turbo goes bad....they save fuel for sure..while sitting at the dealer or your driveway for repairs! Never again ford

      OK when new but when they are older not do boosty. More sluggish with fowled valves and carbon everywhere.. Best put the carbon out through the exhaust system and keep engine clean. Plus you can't spray carbon cleaner in the intake or you will wreck the turbo..

      I stopped buying Ford products BECAUSE of the Ecoboost engines. Give them 50 miles, there will be vast amounts of carbon buildup in the intake valves. You have to basically do a top engine overhaul to fix. And, though the Ecoboost may have tons of power to pull trailers with, you better have a big wallet! The guzzle gas in the mid to lower single digits when they are under a load.

      Use turbos to force more air requires more fuel. Sorry but the 5.0 is as good on fuel as an ecoboost. This certainly holds true for 2011 and 2012 because I lived it with fleet trucks. The 5.0 was better, marginally but better.

      Hey buddy!! I work for Land Rover and this engine is also used on our cars.. those stupid ass VVTs tend to go bad on them too as well as the turbo.. around 50k + kms! What a bad engine!

      Why do people still go on with emissions? Carbon dioxide is fine, plants and microbes break that down. What you need to be worried about is carbon MONoxide. Which is already taken care of by the catalytic converter. If a cat system were still producing too many tailpipe emissions, it would be evident by either a failed cat, or the cat getting too hot and unable to keep up. When the emission input into a catalytic converter exceeds it's abilities, they usually get very hot, sometimes to the point of glowing. After EGR, PCV, and fuel injection got introduced, cars emission were already good enough, the cat just polishes things off. No matter the size of the engine. VVT is just a fuel economy and money making extra.
