well scotty yes they are "just following the market" but say that market is riddled with debt!! oh yeah that mortgage debt bubble that credit card debt bubble and collage debt bubble and yes you of all people should know their is an auto loan bubble!!
so what does this all mean what could i possibly be getting at???

well simple these bubbles are going to bust soon yes it will effect most places around the world but those governments working on a gold standard!! see Russia china and India all have been stacking gold back yeah our government not so... bottom line and short short version is when these bubbles pop no American will be buying anything!!! get it now???

even them nutty Europeans have a plan for post mart collapse... it's called trading with china the American dollar will be worthless!!

ford has said in past documentaries in the early to mid 2000's that Europe was really good too them in fact northern Europe!! since 95 they go on to say that is where they make most of their money not here!! that was as the the plant in India came onboard that was 13-15 years ago i saw that!! now they are doing great in India and Europe as well as south America!! so basically i am saying that they are building these car lines everywhere else in the world but here and id say it is because they know once that credit bubble pops they would have lost their asses to keep them 5 car lines running for at best 2 more years of credit based sales!! see they pay people too tell them these things and they them well!!

I work in the automotive industry and ford fusions are one of the most popular cars i see especially when working with enterprise rental cars. Not sure why they would stop making something so prevalent.

I hear you Scotty, but how much do you think Fords decision to eliminate those models was due to the Obama administration declaring higher mileage standards of 41 mpg by 2020 and 54 mpg by 2025 ? And maybe Ford realized they were never going to meet those standards with gasoline only engines in mid-size vehicles and they would never dare to compete with the likes of Honda and Toyota for the compact and sub-compact markets. So get out while the going is good. And thus hybrid technology may make sense for them now. And even trucks will require 34 mpg by 2025. Laughable in gasoline only engines, and I hope they don't try to make a 4 cylinder full size truck!

Honestly, in my opinion, ford Ford, it was the dual clutch fiasco starting with the Fiesta (2011) and then the Focus (2012) Ford really screwed themselves, and they tried to keep customers with the newer Fusion. Ford "ignored" customer complaints about these dual clutch transmissions for nearly 2 years and then were finally sued in a class action suit. (Too bad for me, I sold my 2012 Focus before the suit was complete, but luckily I didn't get stuck replacing any transmission parts; the lawsuit allowed people to get reimbursed for replacement of faulty clutches).

But back to the topic... I don't buy the argument that consumers don't want cars. I'm sure Grandma and Grandpa don't want to drive a pick up truck or large SUV (or at least, most won't). It's an excuse Ford and GM are using to cover up the real problem--the lack of quality in their more recent cars over the past 8-10 years. Toyota, Honda, Subaru and Nissan would be stupid to give up on the car market. The "import" car companies all know that there is still a good car market out there and I personally feel that Ford & GM are going to regret this decision. But then again, I won't buy another Ford or GM car anyway. Their trucks--maybe. By the way, gas is creeping back up in some places (where I"m at, it's about $2.55 now)--all the more that people are going to want 30+ MPG cars again.

The bottom line is that Ford and GM quit making cars because they stopped selling enough of them. On the flip side, Honda and Toyota sell lots of cars so I would say that they pushed Ford and GM out of the car business.

Hey Scotty I had this theory lately about the auto industry. There will be massive consolidation within the decade and there will only be two giant companies left of any significance, maybe three. There could be a GM like model of multiple brands to choose from within each company. It's going to come down to Toyota and Honda. The rivalry will be fierce.

The big wildcard is going to be Tesla. Not if but how soon can they make a cheaper vehicle? Right now the cheapest new Tesla is $35k. That's ridiculous. Once Tesla comes out with a $20k or $25k vehicle they will become the big new massively successful car company overnight. Then they might acquire Toyota or Honda quickly. Or Tesla will be the third company left to compete with Toyota and Honda. This will be a great time to buy a car since everyone else will have to have a fire sale. 20% off a $25k car. $20k vehicles will cost $15k. $15k vehicles will go for $12k, or $10k. Gleeful times ahead.

But what does this have to do with Ford? Not much, besides who will end up buying out Ford. Or the rest of them... Fiat Chrysler is a joke and Mercedes/BMW are going to go that way as well. Because Scotty knows and enough people will soon see through the hype, hopefully. I mentioned a price war scenario in the last paragraph. It can get bloody, as in companies will go bankrupt in weeks or months.

Could be an interesting topic for a video.
