The Land Cruiser is a legendary SUV produced by Toyota and the 100 series is a very capable go anywhere machine. It was produced from 1998-2007 and they made a ton of changes from the start of production to the end. In this video I cover all the major changes so you can make an informed decision as to which one is best for you.

why are stuck wherever you are if the hyrolic suspension system fails? it goes to the lowest suspension by default and remains there. However you can still drive the car, no?

Grew up in the backseat of 100 Series. 140,000 miles in a 99 and 270,000 miles in an 05 including many that I put on myself when it became mine. It was a very sad day when I traded it in last summer for an FJ Cruiser.... New England rust and likely a need for a new head gasket spelled its end in my life... :( but absolutely had a lot more life in it. Incredible trucks

Yeah, stop with the AHS LIES as one other poster put it.

Don't speak of the Toyota AHS system like a POS bag system from Ford or GM that fail all the time. There's plenty of LandCruisers and LX470 owners that have well over 250,000 miles on their trucks and they perform perfectly. The AHS system is one of the best features of these vehicles.

Also, I hate people that pump up the 06-7 models like they're "so great" for measly 40 hp do realize Toyota achieved that increase of the HP by making the engine variable timing which now has changed it to an "interference" engine which is VERY BAD if your in the middle of nowhere and your timing belt snaps cause that will mess up the engines for all 2006- and newer LC/LXs. The 2005 and older LCs/LXs all have "non-interference" engines.

Furthermore, all LC/LX are great so stop with the "Unicorn" references".

The only thing you got right as far as landcruisers and LX470s in when they went to a 5 speed transmission which helps TREMENDOUSLY.

I've heard now the 570s which replaced the 470s are NOT necessarily better mechanically, just cosmetically interior wise. I personally think they look ugly, especially with that FUGLY front grill!!!!!! ALL THESE IDIOTS paying $90,000 for these newer trucks that will never be any better than the older models are just plain crazy and dumb at the same time.

The only issue these beasts have is the ABS unit failure, which can be pricey, other than that they will absolutely crush anything in terms of reliability and drive quality.

i'm in Australia and own a 95 FZJ80R which is the V6 you said runs like a dog? I've got 33s and she pulls absolutely fine, not lightning quick but for a vehicle its size its not lacking power.

B C. I thought the 80 series came out with the 1HZ, 1HD the 24 valve diesel and the 4500 straight 6 Petrol version. Are we talking about the 80 series?

Jason Costa he’s talking about the 1fz-fe. My 105 has one in it. Definitely way nicer to drive than the 1hz unless you enjoy driving a 2.5tonne slug lol. 1hz is still a good engine though. Very strong and goes forever if you don’t turbo it

Excellent vid! The newer 100 series are really nice but since I never planned to daily it (terrible mpg), so the rear locker in the earlier ones sold me. I wonder which would increase in value over time? The 80 series with triple lockers are $$$ compared to the non locker ones.

Stop telling AHC lies. AHC tends to last well over 10 years and 100's of thousands of miles if properly maintained, that's a far better shelf life and for the most part better performance than any stock or aftermarket suspension a non-AHC Cruiser or LX might have. Any high-end aftermarket suspension will require routine maintenance and rebuilds and possibly even full on replacement in that same time frame costing you thousands. With AHC you have a built-in 2" lift that you don't have run all of the time and the ability to lower for older/shorter riders and it provides different ride and comfort modes with the turn of a dial, that's a game changer. I have the AHC now in a LX 570 and I would take it any day over the standard suspension.

      A new Land Cruiser is $76K while an Escalade is $64K on While a 2009 with less than150,000 miles the LC is $26K and a Escalade is $17K.  A new LX570 3-row is $92K while a 2009 is $27K.
So the LC drops $50K and the Escalade only drops $48K.  Toyota LC is not luxurious and should not have that depreciation compared to another luxury marque.the LX is more like a luxury vehicle in it’s high depreciation of $65 in the last decade.

Did they offer any 2007 land cruisers without the nav scene? Really like these older Toyota and Lexus cars and without the screen I feel like they don’t show their age nearly as bad.
