The missing quad or earlier tail pipe outlets were sharp. Now it looks like moms Camry in the back end. The Accord touring sport has this beat by leaps and bound on looks. Has Acura resolved the crummy transmission issues that seem to have plagued all model years so far?

I have a 06 TL in excellent condition with 225k on it. I nickle dime the repairs when needed which most of the time is way better than a car payment. I wish the 06 had some of the newer tech features these have.

People need to remember when you have an AWD car and only 2 tires seem worn, you have to replace all 4 tires at the same time or you'll have erratic traction or spinning of the worn tires and not the new tires. Not good!

I'd buy an older model that has what I'm looking for that this year and newer missed as long as the transmission was worth a damn.

I work for Honda Motor Company. Acura's are not built for performance. They are built for comfort and luxury. The TLX targets an older generation who appreciates refinement and low maintenance cost. I'm 34 yrs old and prefer the Accord Coupe 3.5L V6 Manual. If you want pure performance and do not mind paying top dollar for maintenance, go buy a $50+ German vehicle.

I think the TLX is only attractive on the front end, it is kind of boring elsewhere. I'm all for late and great technology but I like it to be presented in simple form. The 2 screens can be overwhelming for some, and cause instant frustration as they can get overcrowded with information. And it's redundant that you can control certain things and see things with both screens at the same time. I'm all about options but to have the same options twice with the same results is just all for nothing. This car doesn't stand out or even gets me excited to drive it's just kinda there.

Your graphic says the V6 comes with an 8 speed....V6's come with the 9-speed...the 4 cylinder models come with the 8-speed and also include a dual-clutch with torque converter.....

Liked the review, short yes, but summed up the strengths and weaknesses of the car well. I agree that Acura is going after the value proposition in the luxury segment. That may work since Honda carries a high reliability and longevity reputation. The elephant in the room is Honda's own accord in touring trim level for substantially less. Those not "keeping up with the Joneses" nameplate conscious may choose to save the substantial price difference.

This is not a very good review, its too lazy and slow. Too much background information, not enough impressions on the car itself. Up to 6:00 the reviewer doesn't talk much about how the car drives. He talks more about the car lineup, differences in trim level. And I can't believe he actually talked about why the TLX, RLX all end in the letter X..... how about you review the car you are driving instead of spending so much time on background information.

Its a car review, please review the car.

I don't know about this review- he states that if he's buying a luxury car then it should feel like one- and I agree but then at the end when he's comparing it to BMW and MB he states that the TLX is a good buy compared to the luxury competitors. I'm confused- does he think it's more like a Honda and not luxurious enough or a steal for a luxury car compared to its competition? He also thinks the new push button shift is cool earlier in the video but then dismisses it later on. I do agree that Acura's dual screen is redundant and the top screen that carries the NAVI appears to be too small from a drivers perspective compared to other rivals.

I wish people would stop comparing this to the 3-Series or the C-Class. That tells me how little these car sites know about this segment. It actually competes more closely with the Nissan Maxima, Lincoln MKZ, Volvo S60 and Buick Regal.

He's completely right. Acura is a tier 3 "luxury" brand, it can't compete with BMW, Mercedes, or Lexus. Heck, even Infiniti is pulling ahead.

So the X is for AWD ? How about the TLX 2.4 which is FWD??? Also the TSX wasn't large big enough to be a 3-series competitor? Come ON! I agree on the dual screen and lack of shifter though. But the Acura shifter is almost useless in fun compared to the Steptronic found in BMWs, specially the oldest ones.

I just bought this car and it's super amazing the Navigation is super cool and easy to use. I just speak to it. Sh-awd super handling all wheel drive is the best there is. I feel very confident every turn and I Used to own a Lancer Evolution. This car is just so quiet and feels so luxurious. I really Recommend getting this car.

Was very interested in this car until I jumped on Acurazine and saw all the problems that owners are having with BOTH the DCT and the ZF 9 speed trans in all TLX models. Looks like Acura has a bit of a lemon in its hands. Too bad, really. Checked all the boxes for me and my family otherwise.

    • elusivellama

How is it pretty cool that we can't see the exhaust? It's a part of the car's visual appeal. Also, that push button transmission - ugh. I was interested in the TLX because I am exploring options for naturally aspirated V6 ~ V8 AWD sedans, but honestly that push button transmission would be a deal breaker. It is just wrong.
