The New Ford F150 has 5 different engine options. This video applies to the 2015 F150, 2016 F150, and now the 2017 model. The only exception is the 2017 2nd generation 3.5L EcoBoost that is more powerful than before.       I had the 2.7 & it was junk... junk that could haul a load off hat would blow your mind... and fly, that thing would fly... tuned & to n awd it beat many sports cars, wow... but, it had constant issues, it never got mpg promised ( esp when I added real world truck tires) now I had a 3.5 in a flex and great engine... but, I’m a v8 guy from now on, no more turbo, complicated and not as dependable... and a 302 can have a supercharger and get 600hp... lol

      I recently bought a 2018 f150 Lariat crew with the 5.0. It's the fastest vehicle I've ever owned! Much faster than my 79 Trans Am, 82 Z28 or BMW 325i. 395bhp and an aluminum body makes this thing a rocket in comparison to my 2013 2500HD despite it's 400bhp! When I pass on a two lane highway I'm up to 90 before I know it and have to slow back down.

      Awesomeness a lot of problems with the aluminum bodies just getting dinged for a bottle cap hitting him you know what I mean aluminum bends easily beaten to death like that commercial from Chevrolet when they had steel beds he sure aluminum was a good idea and repairing it I'm told by Buddy people is a nightmare to stick body panels with Banda it just fails so let me know if I'm wrong on what I think I know about Ford's

      tons and tons of problems with 3.5 ecoboost timing chains.......tons and tons of problems with turbos as they age(cooler lines both oil and coolant leaking etc)...........stick with tried and true........v8........5.0L......good solid engine....as a shop owner working on these things daily i'd never buy a used ecoboost....2.7 or 3.5

      That V8 sound vs. EcoBoost power is not a trade. If your buying 1500 class truck to tow, the 5.0 is disappointing.
      Same as a Ram Hemi
      GM and Tundra trucks.
      Do they tow. Yes. The EcoBoost does better, faster with less effort and better mpg.

      I traded my 3.5L Eco for a 2.7L. Love it! I think the 5.0L does sound cool but it just doesn't perform well. Take a lot of RPMs to get going.

      Got to be honest driven a 2018 10 speed for a month now with the 2.7 eco boos. TOO many gears. Trans does skip 1-3-5 ect depending on drive mode. Sure does have a lot boost lag when power is needed quick. but once you have the boost its quick.Have not towed more then 2000 pounds. Trans is quick with downshifts. Cheap interior on mine im sure the taller models are better. Truck has growen on me.

      It's not too many gears because it's hardly ever using them all at once . Also it can skip, that's completely normal. It automatically adjust for optimum power, boost. It also has a adaptive learning, I have a 19 2.7 after about 2k miles it really smoothed out .

      I test drove the 3.5L TT and I loved it and maybe I should've went with it, but I then drove a 2.7L and I wasn't able to chirp the tires, but I was overall impressed with the 0-60 time.  So I ended up buying a 2019 XLT with 302A package and a rear locking differential.  The color of the truck is awesome, magma red, which looks black.  I absolutely love the truck!  The 2.7L TT block is made out of compact graphite iron which is supposed to be a big stronger than cast iron.  Another great feature on these new engines, 2.7L and 3.5L, is the port fuel injection in addition to the direct injection which helps keeps the intake valves clean.  I don't plan on any upgrades to my truck just yet, other than the weathertech floor mats, bed cover and bed rug.  What really nice, I don't have to worry about the body rusting, since it's aluminum.  Maybe after the warranty is up, I'll add some performance upgrades.  Like bigger compressor wheels for the turbo, flex fuel tune, bigger injectors, etc and get 500rwhp and 550ft-lbs of torque.

      UBBERTANKER I have done a ton of research , driven all the engines , heck I had a 3/4 ton diesel before. Finally pulled the plug on a 19 2.7 if you are not towing heavily like 6k or under the 2.7 really is a little bottle rocket. It has the torque at a much lower rpm like 2700 it reaches 80% of its torque compared to the 5.0 which is well above 4k. So 95% of daily driving you are getting the peak power , fun instead of the 5.0 where you have to full throttle to reach the power. The 2.7 really is the best daily driver for someone occasionally towing lighter . I will say it still will tow circles around the old 5.3 L I have. Once you drive it , see the power , mileage if you keep your foot out of it lol you will walk away with it. Anyone questioning reliability , as long you maintain it will be reliable. Ford torture tested these engines , and if maintenance is done they are great trucks.
