I like Volkswagen but I question the overall reliability.  I have owned Nissan and Honda with very minimal issues.

Is it 170/hp On 87 octane??
Or do you have to use 93 octane to achieve 170 hp?

With 93 octane it's close to 190 hp and 220 torque.

Only thing new for 2014 is engine?....I could be mistaken but didn't the multi link rear suspension return to all trim levels this year?

Oh I completely agree, regular oil changes are an absolute must! I still have the same car and she is running strong.. Just turned 12 years old. I have owned the vehicle for the past 5 years and I have put approx. 2000$ worth of work into it... half of that was the timing belt/water pump replacement, some new tires and brakes. The only "major" thing that went on it was the starter. Luckily with a manual you aren't completely stranded.  It's been (Still is!)  a great car!

Very nice car just bought the 2014 1.8T. Runs 87-93 octane. Impressed with the 4 cylinder. This is the first 4banger i ever owned. Im a v6 or v8 type of person. Cars runs like a 6

The new engine is NOT the only change for 2014. All models now receive disc brakes on all 4 corners and not to mention an independent rear suspension that, in 2013 was reserved for Hybrid and GLI trims only.

I believe that the "Highline" would be the SEL trim in the US

I have a '98 passat and I love that car! It's my dads car but my high school car and I'm rebuilding it to bring it back to its prime. I love it and it's the 1.8t!
