At 4h pm yesterday a spectacular fiery crash left one person dead and multiple others injured on Highway 40 in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. Incredible video footage show a man trying to rescue a truck driver moments after the collision, while fire is starting to break out. The accident happened on at a busy time of the day on an elevated portion of a highway in Montreal near St-Denis Street. A first transport truck was apparently stopped when a second truck slammed in its rear, trapping the driver. In the very early video footage, a man is seen walking to assess the condition of the possible victim when he noticed flames starting to break under the cab. He then started running frantically, trying to force open both doors of the semi with a crowbar but without success. Fire grew and quickly involved the wrecked truck before propagating to the truck ahead. Within minutes a large cloud of black smoke rose above heavy flames. Images in this video also show the view from inside a nearby office building where smoke completely blocked all natural light. One man was declared dead on scene. SIM fire crews were busy for hours battling the intense and unusual blaze. Montreal mayor Denis Codere as well as Engineers and investigators went to the scene of the accident and only the eastbound lanes of the highway have been re-opened. At mark 1:08 an explosion can be seen throwing flaming liquid in the opposite lanes while traffic is still going, nearly missing cars on its way to the ground. The fire was contained to the elevated part of the road and traffic in the streets underneath kept going until the arrival of fire fighters.

Cab overs are very unsafe in terms of collision and must be ban plus ppl don't have patience and tailgates to avoid cars to cut in front of 'em. Car drivers think the space truck driver leaves in the front of 'em is their sweet spot. You pay for your stupidity eventually. It's not worth it guys. Value each other while driving around. One of us become an ass and cut in then another try to be hero. Then here we're keyboard warriors offending and defending each other. What about that guy's family he or she left behind. It could be anyone of us today tomorrow or day after tomorrow.

Bless that mans heart! I pray against survivors guilt! You’re a true hero for trying, everyone else just watched. Bystander Effect is awful!
I pray the driver wasn’t alive in fire but that he passed on from accident and without pain! Heart-breaking!

Absolutely agree the man trying to save his fellow man was a hero.
Having said that.....................i always thought Canadians were smart people.................So why the hell would drivers still be driving past this burning tanker when it could explode at any minute?
      Come on guys.........use common sense.

Just hope the driver was not still conscious when the fire got to him. RIP. Clear frustration and anger from the trucker trying in vain to save him, heartbreaking situation.

I feel for both of them, burning to death is one of the worse ways to go. And the guy who tried to save him has to live with the fact he "failed", even though he didn't, doing all he could do, he wont see it like that. Love to both of them

0:58 I feel for that guy as he hits the tires in frustration knowing there'll be a dead man in that truck in the next minute and all his efforts are futile.
