I love this car, but with its price and the new CX-30 this will see a decline in sales, and rebates within a year. Great review btw.

The rear suspension switches from delta link independent to torsion beam non-independent. How much difference does it make in terms of handling and shock absorption? Many thanks

Love this new Mazda. Great overall vehicle. If whatever reason (battery dead, need to tow, need to push to the gas station), the shifter on this car is stuck or any newer Mazda (2014 and newer), here is a quick video showing how to get the shifter out of park: https://youtu.be/k5MKOwSleVA

The sedan is a nice looking car, but can't say that I trust any straight GDI engine to be low-maintenance over the long-haul. Too bad they didn't mate port-injection together with direct-injection like Toyota, to fix the innate carbon deposit issues with straight GDI designs.

+H Boogie 'Properly maintaining' a GDI engine means paying hundreds of extra dollars to clean the carbon gunk out the engine every 30K. It is a flawed design because gasoline cleaning additives are only able to clean 50% of what they need to clean compared to port or port/direct injection combo engines to keep them running properly & cleanly. I will stick to 'properly maintaining' a sensible engine without a flawed design. Your local dealership/autoshop will love the extra business & $$$ though to keep that GDI running properly.

      H Boogie In reply to S. D. H.

+S. D. H. Direct-injection is on almost every car nowadays. As long as you properly maintain your car it shouldn't even be a problem. If you want a low maintenance car that you can beat up without ever having to maintain it then the only car you should be looking at is the Prius.

+H Boogie Might want to google that. Skyactiv-G is direct-injection, just like every other Skyactiv engine.

You realize the skyactive-G engine is naturally aspirated right? What does GDI have anything to do with Mazda?

Test drove the GS AWD the other day and that was a nice ride! Drove it around an empty snowy parking lot to test the AWD and despite on all season tires that thing never lost grip while accelerating from a stop nor did the traction control kick in. Yes while the AWD is not necessary for the class it is a nice option to have with minimal competition (Subaru). Accdg to our local dealer the AWD versions sell out quicker than the FWDs...despite $1700 CAD option! The only other drawback I noticed was the large center tunnel hump (due to driveshaft) in the rear cabin and will be tough for the middle passenger.

+Cars Unlocked No problem dude! So glad Mazda finally addressed the noise inside. My family's 2014 3 is just incredibly noisy even at 30km/h. Engine noise is so bad. But you said even at 120km/h it's quiet which is great to hear. Many people state the torsion beam rear didn't worsen the ride and handling. Also how's the ride over railroads or harden snow roads? 2014 is pretty bad but not as bad as the 2012. :( Do you have like a decibel app to measure this?

And if you've driven luxury cars, how's this 2019 3 compare? I know it's apple vs orange but we are seeing many luxury features become standard on mainstream. CX-5 2017 has front window double paned glass standard which is optional on Lexus GS. :)
