      If you lend me a Continental, a DBS and a 812 for a week, I wouldn't drive the DBS for one single day.
      The Continental is better than the DBS : it's slightly longer for more decent back seats and has no B-pillar , the interior is much more refined and well organized and it comes with the double-clutch gearbox from Porsche and the 48V suspension system from Audi and a latest generation and silky smooth W12 6.0 Biturbo which is perfect for a Grand Touring experience.
      The 812 is better than the DBS : it's shorter so more agile and precise, 2 seats only with a more practical hatchback opening of the luggage space and it comes with a more powerful and glorious V12 6.5 Naturally Aspirated combined with a dual-clutch gearbox and all Ferrari's masterpieces of engineering that came directly from their F1 experience.

      The Continental is better on the luxury side, the 812 is a better on the sports side and the DBS try to be both without being the best at any point. The exterior design is gorgeous but the interior looks cheap, the steering wheel weird and it has a more generic and slower ZF gearbox which is painful for a sporty drive. I think that the current generation of Aston Martin is a turning point for the brand. We are exactly at the intersection between of what remains from the old Ford-era updated into a new generation (DB11, Vantage, DBS) and on the other side the brand's future with the F1-derived Valkyrie's bloodline (AMRB-003/Valhalla and Vanquish) and the electric luxury Lagonda models.

      Is probably not as good as the 812 under many aspects, and I love Ferrari, I am born in Bologna so I have it in my heart, but this is waaaay better looking

      I have always wondered what makes a company go single and not double clutch? I mean do they not perfect it well? Is it heavier? Is it some strategy .... what’s the main reason?

      All Gaydon built Aston Martins have the carbon fibre propshaft [tested to 3000Nm torque incidentally].

      The ZF 8 speed gearbox is a lot more compact and seriously lighter than a double-clutch. The extra weight of a double-clutch is increasing the emissions of vehicles that use them. Downshifts can only occur when the correct rpm are achieved in the relevant gear, so pull the minus paddle too early, and you will have to wait for the downshift. Double-clutches also struggle with high torque engines, they are better in high rpm/bhp applications.

      This car is beautiful! I would imagine those C-pillars combined with the small-ish mirrors leave some massive blind spots. How is visibility?

      great review wonderfull car by all means i hope to add it to my 3 Astons,, a bit disappointed though on the interior , i think it should of been better in design and quality and distanced from DB11
      i am also very sad DBS lost the horizontal stainless grill,,it still looks like a million $ on my 2009 DBS .
      I also believe that the stainless windows surrounds would look nicer than the black glossy
      rear trunk ASTON MARTIN wording should of been recessed with different font

      nut guess what wouldn't be great if Aston add all the above as options.
      finally ;no excuse for the slow transmission downshifting, i do hope a software upgrade will sort it out:}

      this is supposed to be a grand tourer...why not leave the soul (manual tranny) in it? this shouldnt be compared to an 812, with the weight and general intention of this car, youre not going to be winning any track records anyway...a continental is more reasonable.
      i think the sensation of this big gt with stick shift on open road/sweepers would be magical.
      i dont see the point of mating this with a sequential...it just feels wrong.
