Genesis is not a household name in the luxury car segment. It was only a few years ago that Hyundai spun Genesis off into its own premium brand. The 2019 Genesis G70 compact sports sedan looks very promising indeed. Prices range from $34,900 to $52,250. The first hurdle to overcome in the luxury sports sedan segment is first impressions. The G70 makes a big impact with its low, wide, and purposeful stance. The sports package includes a dark chrome grille, 19-inch Sport alloy wheels, and dual exhaust.

Under the hood you can choose between a 2.0 liter turbocharged 4-cylinder and a 3.3 liter twin-turbo V-6 that makes 365 horsepower and 376 lb-ft. of torque. 0-60 MPH take only 4.7 seconds with the top speed maxing out at 167 MPH.

On the inside you will notice the premium details like the quilted Napa leather seats, brushed aluminum trim, and the 8-inch touch screen. Genesis piles on the technology and amenities so you don’t have to pay extra for them.

The Kia Stinger is the basis for the Genesis G70 so all of its great handling properties should translate over to the G70. The ride quality is superb with the adaptive dampeners.

I had the chance to stop by a dealer to put a hand on this G70, EXTREMELY cramped and tight rear seats, an immediate deal breaker 👎🏼

This car is just gorgeous... you gotta see it in person and drive it.  Just test drove this a couple of days ago and completely blown away by its performance and comfort.  Watching it in this review does not do justice.  Definitely will be my next car.

tastes are definitely subjective. The 3 series has the most boring interior of the big 3. This G70 surpasses the BMW's interior to me.

+Natural BB As I said, style/taste is subjective. I find the 3 series interior to be dark and plain. The G70 TO ME definitely has a better looking interior than the current 3 series.

If you think the Genesis has better interior than a BMW, then you haven't sat in either. Even the F30 has a better interior, let alone the new G20.

looks way to cheap to be a luxury vehicle. Luxury is all about the little things and hyundai is trying to cut corners. If im going to spend 40k on a sedan it better be top notch around every corner. I've counted numerous parts pulled out of 20k hyundais, it's a bad look. koreans always trying to cheap out.

I never thought in my life I'd own a Hyundai.
I went from V8 muscle cars to a Genesis 4.6 and loved it.
I just test drove this car 2 weeks ago and it is extremely fun to drive.
I usually only drive V8 cars, but my next will be this one.

"Premium" is an overused word by car reviewers. Ease of use, make and material quality, and ergonomic layout should be the basis. What is this "premium" stuff people constantly talk about. Expand on description. The Genesis layout looks good to me, as is the Audi interior. They are simple and not "busy". Mercedes and BMW on the other hand over do it.

If it’s a Hyundai. I’m not buying. If it’s a Kia. I’m okay with them. Because yes they are still in the branch together. Yet. Kia is more reliable than their branch cousins, Hyundai.

FazeTug you really have to test drive them. I think Hyundai is kind of stepping up. Not all the way, but definitely is a great start.

It's an excellent car no doubt, but if genesis is charging BMW/Lexus money for their cars. I dont think theyll build a better brand rep over time. They need to slash their prices, prove their better than their competitors, than hike the prices up. Not suddenly coming into the market with similar pricing to its competitors than expecting to build a good reputation. That's one of the main downfalls of the Genesis brand. I love their products but this is just a criticism they need to improve upon.

You don't know what you're talking about. A FULLY LOADED model is about 51k USD. That's with the most powerful engine and all features available. A bmw 340I with basic features starts at 53k. What the hell do you expect them to price it? 10K fully loaded? LOL!

Yet another review that oddly leaves out mention of the Alfa Romeo Giulia which is the handling class leader. Also the Jaguar XE. I suspect people who look at BMW 3-Series won't cross shop with the G70 but rather the other alternatives.

Absolutely agree. As a BMW owner myself, i have been looking at both the Alfa and Jags as alternatives. I like the Genesis, but lets be real here. Anyone who is in the market for a luxury European car, will not be looking at the Genesis no matter how much these reviewers keep pushing.

Geese this car is all over the place with the bloggers. Haven't seen a single one on the road however. The fact that they fail to properly Handel distribution and the fact that people have brand loyalty I think it's hard for them to sell this car.

I’m a badge snob and I don’t look down on the Genesis badge. I just think the G70 interior and exterior cut too many corners to make the cost lower.

The tail light turn signals aren’t LED.
The front door pillars aren’t covered (blue paint showing)
The 8” screen is small. We need 10 inches at least.

I hear ya. And while the stitching looks nice the leather is not Audi quality. I agree with the reviewer, all you need is the base RWD 3.3T (Advanced pkg) at the $44,745 price point or $46,745 if you want AWD. IMHO it's worth every penny of that.

Please compare the Genius G70 to the Kia Singer, just like you compare it to the European options. Is the back seat room (leg & head) better in the Stinger? How about value (price for similar features/options? Personally, I like the Stinger because of the hatchback design.
