This is a critical market for automakers and an increasing numbers of consumers. As Car Confections points out so well, price and features as well as warranty are exactly what the well informed buyers in this segment are valuing. Great clear comparison...AGAIN.

My dad had worked for Toyota for years, but my girlfriend and I just bought a 2nd gen Honda CR-v. AHHH I'm so torn between the two 😭

The downside of the crv is it’s cvt transmission and turbo engine. I’ll take the rav-4 in a heart beat.

It wasn’t even close. Honda caught up with your score from back space. Toyota won this in a fr land slide. It looks better and no dumb turbo. Actual transmission. Toyota is an amazing company I’d go with them before Honda on this one.

Well, Hondas have poorly designed DGI engines with a lot of carbonation of valves, and perhaps most seriously, oil dilution with gas. The Honda software fix by all reports does not work well, and their attitude about oil dilution is to tell their customers to change it more often. Its just a very poorly designed engine. I don't know why people are willing to pay so much money for these vehicles. I would buy a Toyota over a Honda any day - they didn't go the sketchy turbo route, and don't have the DGI problem because they were smart enough to design theirs with injectors in the intake manifold. Ford, too, so an Escape would probably be a better bet than the CRV, and at a much lower price! Buyer beware!

Not as objective as this review should be. Many important items missed:
RAV4 has no Android auto, narrow opening doors, no capless gas filler, no road departure mitigation, no easy folding rear seats and more... and you say it’s better?!?

Toyota wants to protect the users confidential information and until the app is legally rewritten, Toyota wont compromise its customers by installing it. Its why Apple carplay took so long to be accepted. It all comes down to Toyota protecting their customers. Honda doesnt.

These two vehicles aren't as close as this review made them seem. The Rav4's exterior shames the honda in total aggressiveness, paint options and trim styles. The honda's wheels look like fidget spinners and is a total mom, fanny pack suv down to the mini-van shift control on the dash. At Toyota's Ride and Drive course (which included an off-road course and other drive-train/suspension testing setups) the CRV unexpectedly could not participate on the off-road course due to its extremely limited suspension and off-road abilities. The Subaru fell behind the new Rav4 Adevnture AWD with torque-vectoring technology and upgraded suspension. Lane-trace assist essentially makes the Rav4 semi-autonomous and paired with full range adaptive cruise control, you could drive through CA traffic to New York and barely steer and never touch the break or gas (standard on all trims, not available on the Honda). The JBL sound system *hits on the Honda's sound system and the engine is not "louder", Toyota used more aggressive tuning on the exhaust so as to give the driver a more exciting drive experience. All in all, the Rav4, just like the new 2019 Camry VS Accord, took a dookie on Honda with their failing turbo'd engine and CVT.
