Another nice review, Gold Pony! In fact your review last year helped me buy a 2019 Camry SE which I'm still pleased with. Of course I wish it had Android Auto but it was time to replace our aging Galaxy 5 phones so we got iPhones which worked out fine. Since 2018 Camrys now can get a firmware flash to upgrade to Apple CarPlay, hopefully a flash can be done for Android Auto later on. What say you, Toyota!

I'm a big fan of the 2.5L 4 cylinder with 8-speed transmission, it's peppy enough yet gets amazing gas mileage. The transmission can lag trying to find the perfect gear but people are making a mountain out of a molehill about this problem. Especially when you're cruising on the Interstate in 8th gear at 70 MPH and the engine RPM is only 1700! Wow! Also, paddle shifters/sports mode let you choose the right gear instead of the computer. Normal driving, well let the computer choose the gear - which I do 95% of the time.

Nice to have the "street version" of the Camrys that own Mustangs and Camaros on the NASCAR tracks! Who's yer Daddy? What is it now 18 Camry wins to 10 Mustang and 7 Camaro? ;-)

The hybrid has an adaptive front lighting system. It's a shame that Toyota doesn't include that as a standard feature for all models. I think an AFLS should be a standard feature in all new vehicles.

Elegant design and practical simple layout with buttons and knobs makes the interior a work of art compared to cluster fuck and fingerprint touch mess in BMWs and Audis near 100k. It's embarrassing to say the least where the luxury department is heading.

What is with these ghastly front ends on new cars? Are automakers competing to see who can make the ugliest car?
Even the understated ones like my 2018 Subaru Outback are a little much. IMO. lexus? Forget it, Acura used to make the most simple/beautiful/elegant cars amd now the front ends are just wretched.

@javier v., I agree! It looks like there is NO bumper. The slightest contact with another vehicle, even at 2 mph, is going to cause major damage. The old federal 5 mph bumper standard is long gone.

I had been a VW loyalist for decades, but no more, once I owned a Honda, and then a Toyota I could not go back, VW's reliability went downhill like a rock.
That being said, Toyotas are reliable and durable, but boring, Hondas are more fun to drive and quality wise, solidly in second place., Subaru's are cars that generate great loyalty in their owners, and IMO give Honda a run for thei money and are a better value.

@Brian I don't know if the 8 speed in Rav4 is the same as the one in the Camry. I had test drive a Rav4 a few time, it was smooth but the engine was a little noisy at higher rev. Toyota makes efficient and reliable cars, and I've no doubt about that.
