Today, we FINALLY get started on the supercharger build with my 2000 GMC Sierra. To recap, it's a stock 5.3 with 240k miles, Texas Speed 216/220 cam, LS6

What are the requirements to supercharge a truck I have a 4.8 vortec all stock and I want to supercharge it but I don't know what to do first

You can bolt one on a bone stock engine. Once you run higher boost you'll want a little ring gap, but to get started, you don't have to do anything to it.

For sure. I think realistically the fastest thing I've been in was like a 300whp Cutlass lol

Those Vortecs are very sensitive! Every time you start disturbing shyt under the hood...that’s EXACTLY WHAT HAPPENS!! That oart sucks about working on these trucks. My 8.1L is even worse on this Avalanche 2500. I wanna do the same thing to mine though. Probably easier to install than a turbo by 100 times.

I'm not familiar with with superchrgers or turbos at all so if this is common knowledge sorry for my ignorance.. Also not familiar with this channel. Did you have to do anything with the motor before supercharging it or is it just a start forward bolt n go?

You could ask this question ten times and get ten different answers. In a nutshell, you SHOULD at least gap the rings to be safe but I didn't touch the bottom end. But if you're running relatively low boost and depending on the engine, miles, etc. it should be fine.

Might buy a whipple supercharger this week for my truck. 4.8. What are some things I’m going to need besides injectors. I plan on running low boost and not race

Really it's a stock motor aside from that. I mean, MLS head gaskets for the boost. But, I haven't even gapped the rings.

Is it a good idea to supercharge a motor with 245k on the ticker? Lol I have 278k on my 2003 5.3 and it does run great and still has life but idk if I’d dare do this to it

I've got a friend(his YouTube channel is Just_A_Z71) and he has a mostly stock 2015 Silverado with a procharger, converter, tune and exhaust and he's run a 12.4 in the 1/4.

SniderTron 3000 I got an 06 Silverado 1/2, 5.3L 4WD I’ve been wanting to put extra HP goodies on. I want to push the running gear but not go way over the top and blow it up the next day. Been thinking of a turbo/ pro charger and cam, headers, true dual exhaust, high flow cats. The thing that sucks is it’s a 4WD and I know I’ll loose HP.

I think that's just because it's not a platinum or iridium plug or whatever the stock is for these trucks. Should work. Check out performancetrucks.net

+SniderTron 3000 it works well. It's a daily driver and I tow a 7000lb trailer thru the Rocky mtns. My water tank is really small and it's still a little cramped under the hood with the exchanger and all the plumbing. I upgraded to a bigger Bosch water pump, but probably didn't need to. What size pulley are you running on the SC head?
