You could've got the center caps for like $20. But it's still great to see BMW with its good customer service overall.

In April of 2017 I purchased CPO 2014 BMW X5 xDrive35i from a BMW dealer with 29k miles. I hit a few potholes, nothing that bad I mean I am driving one of rather best SUV's out there. Right? So I to heard a noise when running at low speeds it was like the passenger wheel rotated it made an odd noise. So guess what, the service center that I go to advised that I blew a strut. This is an $75k+ SUV that touts how reliable and advertise that they are smooth off road. Great looking ride that can't take a hit on a pothole at 38K miles on it now October 2019. Do yourself a favor and don't buy one. This was a great video and just wanted to post my experience. Never again. If you have a great mechanic or you are a DIY have fun. Back to Honda. Thanks for video.

My prediction for the next things to fail: The main thermostat will not allow the engine to get up to full temperature and this will prevent the system from regenerating the DPF which will then block up and need replacing. The secondary thermostat will burst dumping all the coolant. You'll replace it, and the new one will burst too. The starter motor will get slow and drain the battery and both will need replacing. The navigation will fail. You'll then have 50k miles of trouble free motoring, but then it will all happen again. And then the swirl flaps will disintegrate and drop into the cylinders destroying the motor. Can you tell I didn't enjoy my ownership experience too much lol

Thanks for the perspective. I currently own a 2009 X5 straight 6 (no turbo) and I absolutely love it. Also purchased as CPO and no major issues over last 6 years (151K miles). Tomorrow I say goodbye to it as I take delivery of 2020 X5 xDrive 4.0.

Own a 2013 X5 35i that was 79,000 mls when I purchased. Now it has over 85,000 and hadn't had a single mechanical issue to date. Only issues are purely cosmetics like paint chips, fading trims and a few scuffs on the alloy rims.

Trust me, You will have more issues with this x5 35D . I have exactly the same car. First problem is the front wiper. Then the lock. Then, the Active def tank which is the same problem as you have. Also, the pump between active tank and passive tank does not work. Then, the glow plugs, and the leaking air suspension on the back. Right now, my engine light is on, which is the erg problem。 after my research of the whole emissions of the diesel car. I finally understand that sooner or later the DPF and SCR will have problems too. And to fix those issues will cost lots of money. Final recommendation. Never buy a diesel car if you drive in town most of time.

Yes, to do the whole delete the hardware, labor and get tuned by Malone tuning is about 3500 Canadian dollars. Quoted by local European car repair shop.

Do not buy a BMW 2014 X5, I made the mistake of buying one. I can't comment on any other model because I do not own one. The SUV rides like a dump truck and is worth almost 1/2 its original value with less than 40,000 miles on it! Get a Honda or a Toyota, trust me we are all just buying a logo and even those are garbage! I laughed that I picked a BMW video that had the same exact issue as mine did and I have 15k miles to catch up with these issues. If you do want to get one and do choose to buy a certified pre-owned please ask to see the contract before you even start negotiating. They will change that contract and throw a hidden fee from left field to get their price. It is a great looking SUV that is not worth the time, money to fix and its depreciation is off the charts. I keep hearing people say that they hold their value when you go to sell. Yeah, research that one a little more also. I have mine for 2 years under 40k miles and I would be lucky to get a trade in the $20k-$27k range when I get rid of it.

Ted those certified pre-owned contracts are a crock. They pretty much cover only big things like motor, tranny, etc. And they can write these contracts on their own! I spoke to a BMW owner who said that they used to cover everything even brakes and oil changes! Gone. I can't wait to get rid of this thing. My Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited rode 10x better than the BMW that I own. That was a lease, it looked great rode pretty good was noisy but I liked the cockpit the Jeep had. I would advise not to buy one of them either but that is for another day. Have a good one

That's BS on the Sensor not being replaceable. Also the DEF tank is the same one used on the VW diesels and it costs like less than half the BMW tank. They get scale build up in them after a while and need replacement. It sits below & behind headlight on passenger side, access thru fender well.
