When your girlfriend says, even before you get it out the hauler, that she is gonna drive that holy challenger; the that’s a red flag. Time to get vintage car insurance or get a new girl friend.

I didn't even know that there were RT 340 Challengers I had erroneously believed that all RT's were big blocks 383, 440, or 426's. That was true only in 1970. Of course there were no big blocks after 1972, or maybe I'm wrong on that too? Another thing that I didn't know is that you could get a 383 in a Dart in the late 1960's. I have never saw one as far as I can recall. I owned two 340 Challengers and a 340 Dart about 40 years ago. . My 1970 340 Challenger had a factory shaker hood which I understand is very rare on a 1970 340.

I guess it was a no cost option on r/t's but had to be special ordered.

I thought the r/t package came standard with a big block

The 71's R/T's came standard with the 383, but the 340 was a no cost option.
