Well done and easily understood thank you.
Having said that I'm looking at the Honda Pilot was his deactivation cylinder Gizmo and yet it only gets 22 miles to the gallon. What am I missing here? It should get MUCH better fuel economy than that. You have V8 pickup trucks getting close to that mileage.

      #1 GMC Canyon
      #2 Ford F-150
Obviously one with diesel engine and the other the smallest engine.
I know the 2016 GMC Canyon was getting around 30 mpg in diesel test. 2.8L.
That same year the tiny Dodge ram 1500. 26+ mpg..
So there are trucks getting excellent milage. But I DO have e to eat my words a bit because the Honda on the hwy gets 26 mpg and my selective hearing picked up 22mpg. But it makes one wonder that some car companies have been getting better mpg without cylinder deactivation. I guess that's my main point of contention. Seems like a lot of smoke & mirrors for nothing.

Well, you don't need them to be fast, others might have a different idea. If car makers dare to create those that must see a market for them. And why should we care if eventually they do t sell any if the market is non-existent?
