As the owner of a 2019 F-150 5.0 here is the bad news so far.
Ordered in late Oct. 2018 with the options I wanted and it was delivered to me on Dec. 7th, 2018
Problem Number 1 showed up in later Dec. as soon as the freezing cold days showed up.
Door will not close and latch when temperature is below 30 degrees Worse yet __ twice the passenger side door has suddenly swung opened while in motion although the automatic doors locks were in the down locked position. My passenger almost fell out.. For that reason it is a HIGHLY dangerous vehicle. It can give a new meaning to Found On Road Dead.

Problem Number 2 did not show up until this month (May 2019) when pulling into my uphill driveway, coming to a stop with my foot on the brake pedal. When I shift it into park and then apply the parking brake __ and then lifted my foot off the brake pedal the engine goes into run-a-way engine racing extremely high RPM mode until I turn the ignition of. The engine began racing fully out of control, not a linkage or throttle position sensor problem.. Only way to stop the racing engine before it blew up was to turn off the ignition key. I believe this problem is related to the automatic start and stop feature ___ because it only does it when I forget to turn the auto start/stop feature off.. Be careful if you own one __ doors can open while in motion. Engine can race at any time. Maybe Ford should include crash helmets at no added cost.

No do not buy one. I and many others bought the 5.0 and it’s riddled with problems. There’s a rattle at low speed, ticking noises, piston slap, and drinks oil Just search on YouTube and see for yourself. Tons of people having these issues. I bought this truck less than 8 months ago and it was a huge mistake. Ford refuses to do anything about it, they say it’s normal operation.DO NOT BUY ONE.

Should have gotten a 3.5 twin turbo. Especially in higher altitude where the twin turbo shines.

I just can’t get over the fact people buy these things with the 5.5 foot bed... the 6.5 foot bed looks better and that extra foot actually makes a difference IMO

Seven years he wants to get out of this truck. I cannot afford to buy a new truck every 7 yrs or even 10 yrs. I had my truck for over 13yrs and probably run it into the ground before getting a new one.

I had a 2010 F150 and i miss it. I got an 2016 Explorer which is fine, but i miss the sound of a good ol v8, so i can see myself getting back into a F150 in a few years.

Beautiful truck. I'm curious if you can talk about how well Ford Pass works to start the truck. Does it work 100% of the time? Anything else you can say you use Pass for?

Test drove both the Ram and the F150. The ram interior (even in the classic) is much, much better. The Ford is a little quieter, but that is all I really like better. The main issues I noticed with the Ford; Fit and finish of the interior, especially around the glove box, looks cheap and I actually checked to see if the glove box was closed all of the way because it looked loose and the top edge looked bowed. The inside smells like a chemical factory (not a usual new truck smell), so much so that I could not get the smell out of my nose for the rest of the day. The gauges and bezels look dated as well. The other issue is with the rough shifting. The nail in the coffin for the F150 was when the salesman started one of the ecoboosts that I also drove, there was an ear piercing noise that sounded like dry turbo bearings for a good 30 to 40 seconds after start up. I have always been a Ford fan and have owned 7 Fords in my lifetime, but I think I'm going with a Ram this time. Ford can and needs to do better, especially at today's prices.

The lariat is only like 5000 more dollars, when you get an xlt with a bunch of packages, you might as well just get the lariat. I got a lariat. I love it. Plus the electric folding mirrors help a lot when pulling into my garage

The 2018 and up 5.0 is all new to fit the 10 speed. It’s the 3rd gen coyote piston slapping oil burning machine.

Nice truck and hope it stays reliable for you even though people seem to be having some issues with the coyote needing replacement so early. Wonder what exactly is going on. I wont touch the eco’’s either for long term durability/reliability and the 3.5’s only get decent mileage if you drive it like grandpa. These engines are either Eco or Boost as theres no in between. Been driving 5.3 Ls engines for years because of the 5.0 and eco’s. I have to say the experience w gmc/chev drivelines are def professional grade in my
      Opinion.

Is the 18’ 10speed worth an extra 5k+ vs the 17’ with the 6speed? Not sure which to buy!

Jordyn Dietzler I’m talking 5.0 which 17 is 6 speed and 18 is 10 speed. I’m honestly stuck between a 16’ 5.0 with 6speed and a 17’ 3.5 with the 10speed. Both same price. I currently own a 13’ SHO and 16’ edge sport so I know the Ford 6cyl twin turbo well. I just don’t know if I want to use it in a truck. Love the v8 sound

Ryan S the 2017 is also a 10 speed, the 2016 has a 6 speed. And yes the 10 speed adds a lot more towing capacity while also having 3 over drive gears for good mpgs. 10 speed is the way to go.

All the mechanics I know would go for the V8 over any turbo in a truck for reliability, durability , ease of repair and a far lower cost of ownership longterm.

Interesting that the msrp on the truck he has was $52,000 I have a 2018 with the FX4 5.0 and 302A package and it’s an XLT and the msrp is only $51,000 how’s his more then what mine is personally I still like the bench over the center console but just find it interesting that his sticker price pretty much matches mine and his is a lower interior package

I live on the east coast, there are some areas where the elevation is over 3k - 5k where I live. Sure, the ecoboost might be a bit better at higher elevations, but I'd go with the 5.0.

The 5.0 is great other than the odd rattle sound they have when you let off the trottle when the motors cold. They haven't figured it out yet and say its normal... The transmission "whistle" sound is totally normal, its just the sound of hydro-static fluid flowing through the torque converter and in through the valve's because the 10-speed operates under a higher pressure, which is why its louder when cold and louder just before a shift (higher rpm).
