I may have not seen this in 1987, or if I did I forgot, but that 9.5 second 0-60 caught me off guard!

Man! I saw a ton of these back in the day is So-Cal. It really is a danged good looking Suzuki/Metro/Sprint.

This car is what I think of breaking out of all the pathetic smog/emissions regulations that existed in the 80's Yeah, seriously, example. A V8 5.2 liter engine struggling to crank out 145 HP?

Yeah, style of the time. Engineers had to work around them emissions laws and they did well.

There is nothing "snappy" "sporty" or "special" about these pieces of junk. MW is so funny!

The Sprint Turbo actually has 107 pound feet of torque, and typically runs in the 8s 0-60. I used to race V6 Mustangs and mid 90s Ford, Chevy, and Dodge V8 trucks and win. It was funny- no turbo lag, no sound, just V6 torque from idle to redline. I drove it until I only had 3 forward gears left and the wheel bearings went out (couldn't find replacements for either). I donated it at 190,000 miles. My favorite car ever.

We didn't get the turbo in Australia in either GM model (Gemini & Barina) ☹️ Best comment: The engine's torque and the driver have to fight over who gets to do the steering.

This 1987-1988 Chevy Sprint Turbo is faster than this video leads on.. If you've owned & driven one in strong running condition, then you know what it can DO.. Awesome fun car!

70hp turbo engine is 40% more powerful than the non-turbo model? How is that even possible? I know the thing is probably light as a feather, but this could not have felt very zippy.

Wow! A blazing 105 horsepower turbo engine! 40% more than it's predecessor? Did that thing have a lawnmower engine in it? It's weird seeing these retro car reviews when you live in a time where 200hp isn't regarded as powerful.

I bought one of these new in ‘87 in red but mine had different wheels that were alloy. I have to say it was fun to drive but began to fall apart after a year of owning it. The engine was solid but build quality was garbage. Also on long trips I could get 50 mpg driving 65mph

I had one of the standard non-turbo versions of the Sprint and I absolutely loved it I'm six foot six 400 lb and yes someone riding beside me might have a little trouble and forget the rear seat but 55 miles per gallon I absolutely adored the little car wish I had it back my parents made me sell it because they were afraid I would be in a crash with it I would buy another one if I could find it

Wider tires would have helped the handling, but the skinny ones helped fuel mileage.
