In a step-by-step process I take a 5-door station-wagon SUV (Toyota Land Cruiser VDJ76) and turn it into a overland touring vehicle/truck. And while I do so share the principles I use. This is part-1.

is there any reason LC VDJ76 is chosen instead the newer 200? is it the simple, low maintanance factor, price? i'm new on overland vehicle & really intrested hearing some opinions.

You remind me of the guy from Boondock Saints... "Shit, fuck, damn!" A random burst of that in one of your bids would probably put most of us on the floor

This is the Toyota dealership who gave you a hard time and stuffed you around with your factory disk-rotors from your 78 series. Why did you go back to the same dealership and give them more business with the purchase of this 76 series? (Just a question)

Please do a comparison of Lithium vs Lead Crystal batteries...it's a topic that I'm sure many self-proclaimed overlanders aren't familiar with.

The new V8 landcruiser is inefficient & too expensive too run. They should never have abandoned the turbo 6 & Australia should have the new 4-Runner, best 4X4 there is.

I honestly believe the 1st piece of advice should be. Set up what you think you will need for a trip away, Clothes utensils, gear etc then pare it back as far as sensible, making whats left pull double duty at least. then weigh it upgrading springs etc is a last resort or a hobiests province mostly. It is one of the top accessory sports like fishing haha
People spend $$$$S upgrading springs etc as they have bought every possible heavy contrivance known to man from giant fridges, to heavy punps, extra BBqs heavy windches when a tirfer style is usually more than adequate etc etc
Case in point super beefed up Toyato 4X4 muddy track guy got bogged irretrievable first pass.
Instructing his mate to walk 10kms back to town for help. I had been driving my small jeep patriot only in 2wd all day through the same area. within 15 mins he was out with me using a tiny hand crank "pullalong" type windh and my towbar as a simple anchor + some scub, branches etc.
