Another great review Thomas, but it gives me another problem to think about, in regards to what Suv. I'll be purchasing at the end of the year.
As your cover on this VW. Is very convincing.
I was having serious thoughts about changing to the Seat Arteca, but as stated above, im having different thoughts now, owing to the fact, that your review re the VW. Is very tempting.Thank you once again Thomas.👍🇬🇧

Hi Thomas, I really appreciate your reviews. I really care about this one in particular cause I'm getting a new Tiguan(1.5 manual) and I'd like to know if the one you drove in this test got a dynamic steering or the standard servotronic. Do you think dynamic steering is a "must have"? Asking around nobody gave me a decent answer since nobody knows(it seems to be very rare at least in Italy, the price as option is quite low but I don't like the idea I didn't try it). Maybe it get more sense if you get the drive profile selection too? Maybe it's not going to be very useful on a car like this with a low power engine and manual gearbox? I never had a chance to try it so I really need an advice. ps: I drive about 15000 km/year...Keep cool and Cheers from Puglia

Ciao Thomas, sorry for some delay in the answer. Now I tell you the name. As marine biologist I'm founding an environmental association and I'm still looking for a name easy to recognize (not only for Italians). Until you wrote yesterday me I din't realize Apulia could work much better then Puglia. So I think I'm gonna call it "Apulia Marine Project" :-) If you come you are already invited to join our activities. ps: I like your environment friendly attitude for sure. Cheers

Yes in Italy it's always called Puglia, btw Apulia still perfectly works and I must say you gave me a good idea for the name of a new project I have in the tourism sector here. Get in touch if you ever come to visit Apulia again ;-) Cheers

Welcome to my hell. I leased a 2018 VW Tiguan last July and have been battling with Volkswagen since I got it with the same pillar noise (both sides), engine stalling, and the horrible jerking of the vehicle after releasing the gas pedal. There is a factory defect with Tiguans where the pillar was not properly welded together at the plant so when the vehicle's body stresses it clicks. I have taken my Tiguan to get this and the other defects taken care of and Volkswagen has no solution. I have discovered that the local service personnel are just as frustrated as they are stuck waiting on Volkswagen engineers to come up with a solution. I opened a case with VW of America to buy back my Tiguan and after months of back and forth nonsense, VW of America basically said that is the way the Tiguan functions so too bad. Once again Volkswagen has cheated their customers by ignoring a defect and not fessing up to it. So either we all get together and complain to Volkswagen, better business bureau or suffer. This is my 7th Volkswagen and my last. Good luck to all who are suffering with the Tiguans' defects.

I think the car will be fine with a 1.4 petrol engine while running around empty but put a family of 4 with their luggage in it and I have no doubt the car would be under powered.I however love the interior but think it looks a bit too conservative and dull on the outside.

      Hi Thomas!
I am thinking about buying this entry level model with the 1.4 125cv petrol engine (I don't do more than 8000 I'm per year).
You said that the average fuel consumption was 7.8l per 100km. I guess that is with a mix of city and highway.
At 120-130km on highway, what consumption could I have?

I have 1.4 manual. 6.9 is my average consumption after 8000 km driving . Novodays I am doing many many short time driving in the city with huge traffic jams in a 15 km long distance with AC in 35 celsious degree and unfortunately the consumption sometimes stays on 10 l/100 km. On 120 km/ hour on motorway it consumes 5.4-6 l/100
