about your Merlin engine; have you ever considered taking on the project of making it the most it could be using modern up to date technologies such as fuel injection, computer control of everything as modern inline 4 engines now putting out over 300hp ?

No upgrade for the SEL. Do the body, suspension and brakes, we don't want to lose you Jay. The drive train is hot, your voice tells me you think so and, you enjoy the car as it is. So the newer engine and transmission gets re-assigned and a lighter, faster restoration is executed. The final point would be this, in the end you have the car you always, "lusted after". You only live once so get what you lust for, when you can. Your car, your garage, though. A tough decision. Good luck.

I have a 6.3 SEL with 58k miles, original and unrestored. You will grieve the rest of your life if you replace that marvelous engine.

The Silver Mercedes, I hope you kept the original engine and transmission in it especially if it is not a daily driver... Just the opposite if you drive it often then change the engine/trans but do not toss them away!!!!!

Keep the Merc completely original. I also worked for them when I was younger, but it was in the early I never really wanted to own any that I worked on. But if i had that one of yours, I'd keep it original. It's beautiful

Mr. Leno, you are hysterical wonderful car car/auto/van/motorcycle.../perhaps bicycles show, I'm sure some season critic might say do this change that, but you provide me an escape from reality, John Prine lyric, but I'm about to get evicted from where I live, I have a bicycle shop in Callicoon, provide a focused easy ride through your phantasmagorical show...jeepers I.m 66 and me and my dog Buck are getting the boot...Jay you are well versed in car lore, factoid, are way bright and articulate plus fun to watch as I journey down this path I encountered at a fork in the road, I took the one less traveled it has made all the difference, so while I endure temporary hardship thanks for the giggles!

Put the SLS engine in the SEL. Keep everything looking stock. Cnc larger wheels that look like the originals to fit over larger brakes. Fab up sporty suspension and take it to vintage racing events!

I'd leave it the way she is, a strong running original 6.3 in the original chassis... that's the way it was when Jay worked there, that's the way it should stay in my opinion

The colorful sleeve valve engine you should restomod it but that newer model Mercedes drivetrain on it leave the old Mercedes how it is or since the seats in the middle put it on a McLaren drivetrain
