Try an electrically POWERED catalytic cleaner on the smoking sleeve valve. Pressure fed the cleaner air, run exhaust over hot coils. ? Might work ?

My father had that very same Benz in a dark green. It's your car Jay.....but I personally would leave it as it is. My father was one of the track doctors at Watkins Glen back in the Formula One days....he did love his cars!

Keep the 6.3 original until it needs an overhaul. In its stock form it is strong and the engineering cant be improved by simply adding more horsepower.

      g day.... think turbo/s on big ol' benz 6-3 otherwise original.....just a thought......nice garage..

Definitely keep the Mercedes all original. You can always do the engine swap when and if the original craps out which would interesting to see how long that would take. I have sort of the same dilemma with my '56 AMC Hudson Hornet with the original 250 V8 and 3 spd w OD. The odometer reads 94,000 and change but the motor runs strong after solving oil leaking at the front seal because of a scored crank; used a sleeve to fix it, oil consumption 0! Keeping it original gives me the option to show in concours' if I wish.

I know it has been over 4 years but.... I'd keep the 6.3 original, it's still plenty fast... and then I'd toss that motor you have for it in the Detroit Electric! lol Zoom!!

Keep the 6.3 original, it the best car they ever made. If you want a modified one, add the red pig to your collection!

I had a ride in a Benz years ago and it was very smooth. You have a lot of original cars. Yeh , give it a monster drivetrain. It's all about the fun of it. Love your show. Please do some modern flying car test drives.
