Hey Chase! I've been a fan of you for quite some time now, I am 15 and I am hoping my parents will let me get my motorcycle license, and I am looking for a good starter bike, preferably one that is comfortable and easy on turns and doesn't weigh a shit ton, any suggestions? It would be my first bike)

It's intersting how I always hear bike riders talking about the brakes and I can not help but think how different every single cars brakes have felt and the bite point they have. Im not saying you are wrong but most likely it's a further in bite point

I am riding one of these (2019 model) as a loaner while my MT09 is getting repaired. It really is gutless. At bit of fun in traffic but nothing at the low end and it redlines really easily.

Lol compare to mt09 any bike feels gutless down low. 0 to 100 kph mt09 beats most superbikes. Mt09 is extremely torquey and snappy.

I personally hate this bike. It's very heavy for the class, Expensive and underpowered for the engine. Duke/rc 390/ r3 ninja300/400 are much quicker bikes and much cheaper. It's just sucks at being sport bike the engine doesn't like to rev high it doesn't lean fast too. As a daily commuter for the riders who want sporty looks and easy power it's cool but you can get ninja65 for the same price but ninja650 is by far superior bike for commuting and week end rides/track days.

I just bought one of these and then found this video. I agree with everything you say except the seat is comfy for me. The brakes do bite better after some usage and break in. I upgraded from an R3:)

@Anton Newman I completely agree with all those comments on the R3 versus CBR500R. The CBR is 40 pounds heavier and I feel it in the curves. An ECU flash could solve the lack of top end power and make the power more linear. I would classify the CBR500R as a sport tourer and wouldn't compare the two because the R3 is sporty.

Does it feel like an upgrade to you? I had r3 as my first bike and still owns it for track day fun bike. And my friend just got his new 2019 cbr500r and beside it being a bit torquerer down low it loses power after 6 rpm and you need to shift way sooner than the redline to keep the power going. Also r3 and cbr500 got about the same HP at the rear wheel but r3 is much lighter. On the street for just commuting at lower rpm cbr500 is a better bike but as a sport bike it sucks. R3 is faster and more agile for me.

It probably has a naked bike feel because it has the same engine as the CB500F, which is a naked bike :)

Cbr500 have nothing to do with sport bikes. The looks just for show. Its pretty much faired naked bike, It doesn't like to rev high nor to ride aggressively. I would argue that cb500f is by far superior bike it's lighter and easier to work on.

Ok for One I know other manufacturers do this as well, but i really dont like it when Honda Upbadge their Bikes .
For instance the Honda CBR 300r 286cc, CBR 500R 471cc they do the same thing with there Scooters like the Honda Forza,
SH 300 279cc . Just for the Record i Ride a Scooter, my 2 Wheel tool of choice . My 2016 Kymco People GTi 300 Displacement is 299cc very capible Scooter, their 400cc Scooter is 399cc. When they a 500cc Scooter it was 499cc get my point . Kymco do have so watered down version as well . But i feel as Consumers we should (Get What we Pay For) If you buy a CBR 500R the displacement should be no lessthan 5 to 8cc less than its initial Displacement or Badge says. But thats just MHO.

Why would you give a shit about the specific number of cc the bike have. The cc is meaning less, You should look at the torque and hp numbers when you buy a bike not how much of the specific cc it have. This is weirdest complain i ever heard about motorcycles. It's really meaning less.
