I would say that the Jeep just edged it, at least in this kind of rock crawling, but is it 10 grand better? The Jeep can’t win a road comparison, not with a solid front axle, so off-road is where it has to justify that premium, if it can.
I would say it didn’t do it. The Chevy hardly has a traditional way of getting over obstacles, but it’s hard to argue with the confidence 200+ pounds of heavy armor can provide. Scrape away, what difference does it make?

You can get a normal ZR2 without the extra cruft for ~43k and it will perform as well as either of these.

A lift kit on the Jeep will help a lot along with some bigger tires.

I'd remove the front bumper on the Bison and put on an off road bumper.. For the Gladiator, i'd remove the entire truck lol.

For $10k you could get a pair of nice dirbikes to throw into the back of the Colorado.... or a small travel trailer to park at a nearby campground. I would take the Chevy.

I have a 18' Colorado in Z71 trim that would do that trail without a problem though. Paid $32,500 OTD for it new. Removed the airdam and added sliders and skids for about $650. I will wait until I rip off the bumpers before buying some. I would not make the wife angry that way! lol

I can get the Bison bumper directly from AEV now as well as the skids. So that is an option as well. Would be much cheaper when placed on the Z71 trim. Would just be mission a few things like a front locker... until you add your own.

Biggest problem here, and this is the reason why jeep wins. You can’t buy the ZR2 Bison from the factory like that. That is additional package from AEV. If you’re gonna compare, do factory vehicle to factory vehicle

If that would have been the regular zr2 it would have smoked the Jeep wouldn’t have been a comparison kinda pointless to take the bison without a lift with worse approach and departure angles. Plus the regular zr2 bang for buck is 40k vs 60k!
