2016 BMW 3 Series | CarGurus Test Drive Review

Forget Nissan’s claim that it builds a 4-door sports car. The BMW 3 Series is the real deal, an actual sports car equipped with four doors, thrilling to drive under almost every circumstance, and roomy enough for you and three other people. But is a 3 Series a luxury car? That’s debatable.

For 2016, BMW installs a new, lightweight, turbocharged 3.0-liter 6-cylinder engine in this version of the 3 Series, simultaneously changing the car’s name from 335i to 340i. The engine generates 320 horsepower at 5,500 rpm and 330 lb-ft of torque from 1,380 rpm to 5,000 rpm.

I’m not a 3 Series purist or expert, but during previous drives of a 2012 and a 2014 model, the driving dynamics did not stand head-and-shoulders above the previous version of the Three, let alone competitors who were fast decoding BMW’s secret sauce.       thats not true you can only choose to de-badge the exterior from the factory or dealership. any M car that doesnt have badges on the interior had that done after market. Lol sounds like someone has never owned a BMW

      At $61K as tested price for this 340i, you could pay a few thousand more for an M3. Sure you won't have some of the safety tech, but if you're getting the car for just the driving experience, wouldn't you just go for the M3?

      Im starting to think this car is bullshit. So far all the car reviews only show the xdrive m-sport version . That tells me the standard version is a shitbox and you have to get a the fully loaded expensive version to even get a tickle from this car. The 2016 Audi A4 comes standard with half the shit this BMW has in add on's. Which cost more money.

      @ 8:24 That idrive has a digital tuning knob. When in the radio menu once you select AM, FM satellite etc. click on the channel listing and at the top that screen the tuning knob is an option.

      62,000? Is he in Canada? A convertible Mustang is half and twice as good looking. Sweet thing wants a convertible. I watch these because it's a Beemer. I rented a Stang for ten days and it's the ultimate driving machine. A chick magnet. Sweet thing took notice of the convertible.

      maybe i can give you some insight on this. i had a 2015 infiniti q50 3.7L AWD and it was by far the best fucking car i have ever owned it was sharp and aggressive on the outside and smooth and sexy on the inside with soft leather and 2 huge LCD displays with a gorgeous digital dash turned this car into a spaceship at night. unfortunately after a car accident my q50 was totaled and i found my self looking for something new but they stopped making 3.7L engines for the 2016 year at infiniti and put in 3.0L with turbos instead and i was not very impressed so i found my self looking at BMW and ended up buying a 2016 328i xDrive i got the car loaded with just about every feature except the heads-up display and after owning it for a couple months i just started to feel cramped inside of it and the lack of luxury did end up bothering me in the long run. the seats were too hard and never softened up after a few thousand miles of driving the runflat tires made for a awful hard, bumpy, and unforgiving ride. then there was the infotainment system that was nothing more than a tool that felt limited in its ability and the voice commands seldom worked and would end up with me repeating myself 10 times before i would end up manually putting in the address or contact i was looking for. the sound system was horrible in the 2016 328i it was cracked and popped through the speakers and rattled the doors so bad that it was embarrassing to listen to music in traffic. also the cabin of the 2016 328i was noisy but not from the sounds of the engine but the sound of cheap interior parts knocking around it really did sound like everything inside of the car was loose. i ended up getting rid of the 2016 328i xDrive and traded it in for a 2016 528i xDrive and i am very pleased with it for now but i want to get into something a little less expensive because my priorities have changed in the last few months and i ended up looking at a 2017 Audi A4 sLine Prestige Quattro that was priced at $45,000 and i absolutely fell in love, it is so much more spacious than the bmw 3series and i am 6'3 260lbs i felt more than comfortable, then as far as luxury and technology this car is leading the class in my opinion. i plan on trading in my 2016 528i xDrive for the new Audi A4 in december when they are close to the year end. I cant wait
