How to spend less money on gas? How to drive a car easily and safely? There is a direct connection between mileage and the frequency of maintenance services. Here are 10 brilliant driving hacks and secrets that will help you save gas money and drive your car like a pro.

- Why is gas so expensive? 0:54
- Don’t put the pedal to the metal 2:20
- Use cruise control on the highway 3:18
- Undergo servicing on time 4:04
- Turn off the air conditioning 4:58
- Make your route logistically efficient 5:47
- Don’t drive when it rains 6:34
- Monitor your tire pressure 7:24
- Remove unnecessary weight 8:04
- Keep an eye on gas prices 8:35
- Always stay alert on the road 9:11

Why is gas so expensive? Because oil is? That’s right. Crude oil, to be precise. It makes up 72 of gasoline price. We pay the remaining 28 percent for distribution, refining, and taxes. The reasons for gas prices to rise are the weakening dollar, natural disasters and simple rules of supply and demand. Prices rise when demand is bigger than supply. Prices usually drop down in the winter when fewer people are traveling across the country.

We can hardly affect any of the things we just mentioned. But we can affect our choice when buying a car. Some cars are less fuel-efficient than others. But we still love them and want to have them. They are ultra high-end luxury cars and large vans and SUVs. Sports cars are already very expensive themselves and also require you to feed their turbocharged engines, which create more horsepower. If you don’t have a sports car, but paying for gas is still a nightmare, then you probably own one of the best-selling cars in America. Toyota Camry, Corolla, Prius and Honda Civic, Accord and CR-V. Give this video a “thumbs up” if we guessed it right.

I've been in 4 accidents while STOPPED. 2 times hit at a red light after stopped, 1 time in traffic and someone exited an apartment complex parking lot and simply ran into the rear quarter panel, and 1 time a guy backed into me while I was in line for gas! I speed all the time and haven't had any accidents while speeding. Situational awareness. There isn't much you can do while sitting at a stoplight but there is when you're cruising along at 75 mph down the interstate. Also, I get about 16 mpg in city in my Jeep Grand Cherokee. I get 16 whether I jack rabbit start or not, use A/C or not, speed or not. I get about 20 on highway trips. I'll pay the alleged 15% difference and use A/C...which is negated when you roll the windows down and create excessive drag on the highway. If you want to drive slow and waste 20-30 minutes per day at stop lights, go right on ahead, I prefer not to. If I followed all these suggestions apparently I'd double my mileage. Well, the 2011 WK2 Overland doesn't get 32 mpg. Ever. Also, since I violate every one of these suggestions, I should be getting about 6 mpg. Well, I've gotten 15.4mpg on some trips, but not 6.

One most efficient trick in smooth traffic is keeping double the breaking distance, so that u can stop acceleration and control your speed with out breaking. (Less breaking more fuel efficient)

Actually #2 is not ALWAYS as good an idea as it sounds as some gas additives when mixed with a different additive from some other station can cause problems. Experience : as a cab driver, I used a specific companies gas, but every time a certain OTHER driver used my normal vehicle he would use a different stations gas and I would have problems with the vehicle for the next 2 or 3 days (spitting and sputtering) til I ran that gas out and got the system "clean" again. Also, as for acceleration: there is a "sweet spot" where you get better performance from any "normal" car and when you find (and use) it, you get faster acceleration with less a teenager, I always got to places faster, but with better fuel economy than my mother who used (the then popular) "egg under the pedal" approach of easing the accelerator down. This is because it allows you to "get to speed" and thus into the higher gears use a drop or two more fuel in the acceleration phase, but SAVE an ounce in the actual driving phase. NOTE: this will most definitely NOT work in some place like New York or Chicago where there is no concept of "Clear Road"...LOL
