Would love a bit of info comparing the 3 bands on range for speed detection and which ones are picked up by radar detectors first.

What band do they us with speed cameras? Will radar detectors work with speed cams? If so which is the best radar detector for speed cams?

There's many many different types of speed cams. Some use radar (all sorts of different frequencies and power levels), some use laser, some use cameras, some use sensors in the road, etc. The newest RD's from Escort, Uniden, and Radenso can pick many of them up, plus they have GPS to alert you to fixed photo locations which is especially nice if they're not using radar or laser in the first place.

We have a 'Your Speed Is' unit set up on the edge of town, been there for about a year. My Redline always picks it up starting around 6 miles out.
A couple months ago, the Redline quit detecting it even though its in use, and I noticed a blue LED light (small) in the middle of the sign at that same time.
I've noticed that same blue LED on several of these signs throughout the midwest that the Redline doesn't doesn't sniff out.
Is th e frequency of the blue LED somehow mixing with the radar freq, thus making it so the Redline can't sort the 2 two?

We'll be fucked if they do switch to KU band just because they'll know radar detectors won't pick it up

What about laser radar detectors? Is that different from these that you've shown? I'm a novice in radar detectors. Thanks.

@Whatatay T Depends on what band the radar is, Ka band is 34.2 to about 36.0. K band is below that. Most radar models can be bought in either K or Ka.

WOAB WOAB Those are the specific frequencies within the Ka band that police radar uses. There are 4 makers of police radar guns. See 3:44 in the video. If I recall correctly Stalker radar guns use 33.8 GHz, MPH uses 34.7 GHz, and the other 2 brands use 35.5 GHz. Some radar detectors let you select specific frequencies so if you know the brand of radar gun used in the area you drive, you can program your detector to just scan that frequency and not waste time looking at the other frequencies which can result in a faster alert although modern day detectors are pretty fast at sweeping the entire Ka range so is not so much of an issue.
