We finally get our hands on the new Pacifica. After many long years of dealing with the Caravan and Town and Country, FCA gives us a resurrection of the segment they invented. This aims to take back the crown from the Honda Odyssey and Toyota Sienna.

You can actually close/open the sliding doors by pressing the button on the handle - even less effort than pulling the handle!

They are sharp looking vans. Gotta remember that this is a vehicle for moms to haul kids in. My wife still loves her ancient grand caravan that we raised our family with. We may get one of these someday when they are used for about $10K and the long term issues become known. It may have good performance and such but in reality they will spend their lives putting around at 35mph to school and soccer games. Does it really need 9 speeds? No. 4 or 5 would be fine and eliminate constant shifting. Constant shifting concerns me for longevity and the 3.6 clattering at startup is worrisome. I wonder if they fixed that. Touchscreen everything is also a concern. It may work for 5 years but how about at 10-12 years? Will this be a money pit?

This may be a great vehicle, but it's not a commercial success. The reality is people still won't spend 50 grand on a minivan, that's SUV territory and people are always going to get an SUV. Logic says buy the pacifica, consumers don't buy according to logic.

The factory in Windsor Ontario that builds this vehicle just cut the 3rd shift, approximately 1500 jobs cut.

Does it look cool? No. Can I get a sheet of plywood in an SUV? No. Can I get one in this? Yes.

My problem with buying a new minivan isn't the stigma, or shit like that.... it's like my other new car.. fear of the unknown happening to a vehicle I'm still making payments on... so I bought a $650 2003 chrysler town and country to beat the shit out of

Way to give equal time, consideration, and urgency to the vehicle type and a value proposition! Vehicles require a sizable investment of time and money: a home on wheels. On behalf of those who have to make a family proposition, we solute you!

I rented this vehicle for a week and drove long and short distances, its a very well seated vehicle with superior gadgets. However, i did notice the brake system failure light came on twice (it was rental) it drove very well and buying USED i have no worries on cost:)

What attribute I didn't hear covered is the isolation of the cabin from road/tire/engine noise, a big deal for drivers/passengers as they grow older. Some of the newer and upscale trims on the Pacifica seem to emphasize it as a driver car, a performance car, a slick handler, great tire/wheel packages, etc. Does it live up to any of that superficial sizzle or bling on the outside?

I rented the pacifica once for a road trip....we were loaded down with people and random shit. That 3.6 liter Pentestar V6...is a great fucking engine. It was stupid fast, never drove a minivan before that was actually quick....and I was averaging 29-30 mpg on the highway.

The engine options from FCA are the fucking best in the current market. Most other brands just give you undersized shit for engines. At best you might be able to upgrade to a V6 in a fullsize car but only if you buy the upper-most trim of their flagship vehicle.

one thing I really really admire and like about Chrylser is that they have maintained a respectable powertrain lineup. While everyone else was busy tossing in 4 banger turbos into everything Chrysler kept giving the consumer real engines with real options. Everything else was...Here is a full size cadillac.....2 liter turbo....here is a vw passat....2 liter turbo. Here is a Dodge Charger, base model 3.6 liter V6...or you can option out for a 5.7 liter V8 Hemi or even larger 6.2 Liter V8 Hemi.

It's late 2018 & that ZF 9 speed still needs to go away. Also were the front CV Axles ever updated? They work fine on good roads but anything crappy they start having problems.

It's an amazing car if you have kids. Traded an Acura MDX for it and can't believe I waited so long.

And I get to drive a tuned GTI to work, so everybody wins. Right tool for the job, right?

Thanks for this review, it convinced me to get one.
