I would have liked it more if you kept the camera pointed at the dash during the startup sequence.

So basically, less weight, resulting in better handling, fuel consumption and emissions. Only a few tenths slower than the V6 whilst costing a few grand less. A sound that if compared to the V6/V8 has no chance but to my ears sounds fantastic for a 4banger! Yeah there’s some sound augmentation but the idea has never bothered me. You can tone it down into a quite GT cruiser or unleash the pops and bangs for a raw sports car experience. What’s not to like?! I even think the lines look somehow cleaner than it’s slightly more pumped up siblings. Each to their own!

Jaguar, well done for this! I hope it sells like hot cakes!!

people shaming on tje 4cylindee but its just 0.x seconds slower than the v6 while being more agile and having a decent sound for a 4cylinder.

I always thought that the F-type has a harsh ride because of the oversized tires but this video destroyed my belief...still harsh! The engine is artificially loud and makes the car tiresome.

Francisco Espírito-Santo they are average. Not so bad like in american sportcars and not so good like a mersedes one.
Almost all money invested to that car was spent to promotion and designe.

I think it sounds fine considering it's a 4 cylinder. My 2016 turbo civic sounds muted compared to this.

Apart from the engine and the terrible sound, it's a lovely car. Nice 718 rival from Jaguar. But the it's got nothing on the V6 or the perfect sounding V8. If you are going to buy this, it surely would be best to go second hand and just get a V8 model in good condition.

Sounds like a Subaru WRX. Seems a bit odd for what we are accustomed to think of as a muscular Jag, despite its impressive speed. Switch the automatic to a manual transmission, and get the convertible version, and you have a real sports car, like a fast Miata.

I have driven both and the 718 doesn't even have a "sound". It's just a disgusting noise that gets annoying after 5 minutes. At first it sounds broken. While driving just unpleasant. I had to turn the loud exhaust off, which I have never done before. Not a fan of 4 cylinder engines anyway but the jaguar sounds way better.

Maybe you should see a doctor about your ears? The 718 sounds like $hit. The engine note resembles a Subaru WRX but the sound characteristics are completely flat. Unlike their flat 6, Porsche's flat 4s simply get louder louder and louder as they rev, but the pitch doesn't change much. It sounds like a blender going from 'low' to 'high.' At least the Jag has a throaty burble that alters pitch as it revs up. It also has some cracks and bangs to give it a bit of character.

Look, no 4 cylinder will ever sing as sweetly as a 6; just as no 8 will ever sound like a 12. But, for what it is, this is a nice sounding engine.
