Today we look closely at the Sony a6500 and see how it stacks up for video shooting! Sony a6500 on Amazon ►

► Great AF
► Stabilization is good
► Less overheating
► Touch AF works well
► Improved body and feel
► Slightly different but good slow motion/quick motion features
► Slightly improved menu design

► Still no flip OUT screen
► SD card slot is still under camera
► Battery life not improved/worse
► Rolling shutter still pretty bad

This camera is a no brainer if you are always behind the camera.

Vloggers/Youtubers will need additional gear to get the most out of this camera.

This is by far the smallest and best camera for $1400 right now.

Hey Caleb! I now bought the a6500 and I have an external Monitor attached to it. How ever in video mode I can not change the aperture and shutterspeed. But as soon as I go from video mode to Manual or profile 1 or 2 the resolution of my external monitor goes down very badly. Any workaround? Thanks!

What do you think about the lumix g9 compared to this?

Problem with Panasonic is IQ pales I'm comparison to Sony from DR, detail and high iso. Also the great stabilization suffers from weird warping issues.

Hello. Would you happen to know that the new crop factor would be if a metabones adapter was used to connect canon glass? I believe the a6500 is a 1.5x crop? Thank you

      1.5x with non-speedbooster lenses.

04:58 'But it's only useful if you're behind the camera.'........ And a damn sight better than the stupid flip out to the side screen. We DO NOT want a flip out to the side screen!!!!! Stop telling us that you do, it's only useful for Vloggers, for everything else it's a burden to creativity.

Doubting betweet the 6500 and 6300. Maybe I can go for the 6300, and buy a stabalizer with the money I spare on the 6500?

Although I had already purchased the beautiful Sony a6500 featured in your video watching it reassured me that I had made the right choice. I'm upgrading from the a6000 (which I have shots thousands of photos and dozens of videos with). I can't say enough great things about the a6000. I'm glad Sony has made yet another step in the right direction with the 6500. Thanks for your always informative and well produced informational videos. You sir are exceptional at what you do.

I just don't get Sony - they could so easily own the market if they just added a couple of those extra features - flip out screen, bigger battery, headphone jack. Crazy!

This is the best camera ever for the price: I've tried a lot of cameras and this one takes the cake, light weight and best bang for your buck. I've had mine for 2 years and is never over heats or fails me. it virtually has unlimited options and settings,it even cleans its self!

Would you recommend a6300 paired with a gimbal or a6500?

    • rsmith02
      rsmith02 In reply to pettypoh

a6500. IBIS removes the small jitter and gimbal takes care of the big movements.

As for remote control lock down, you have to connect your camera to a wifi and update in-camera memories app in order to get full remote functionality.
