Everyone probably knows that not all cars are created equal and there are some models out there you should steer clear of. So with that said, we found some cars, trucks, and SUV’s that you should beware of buying unless you know they will be reliable or not. Despite this, there are some vehicles that are just plain ‘lemons’ that you should avoid altogether. Check out these 15 Cars You Should Never Buy.

Range Rover Sport Diesel
Unfortunately, the Range Rover has never had a glowing reputation for solid reliability. One look at the consumer affairs website will tell you this with nearly 300 1-star reviews

Fiat 500X
The Fiat 500X is actually a weird retro designed, ‘road-biased’ SUV. We say weird because it doesn’t have a 4-wheel drive option like most other SUV’s.

Volvo XC90
Volvo is known for making one of the safest cars on the road. But when it comes to the 2004 and 2016 Volvo XC90, it looks like there might have been some manufacturing problems.

Nissan Xterra
The Xterra was in production from 2000 until 2015. While it seemed like a reliable vehicle, the 2005 model had a serious problem with the transmission where an internal radiator leak would cause coolant to go inside the transmission.

Jeep Renegade

Dodge Grand Caravan

Mini Cooper
The Mini Cooper is really a cool looking car retro car, and in the 2003 movie The Italian Job, we got a look at some cool stunts with a trio of these cars. But all is not fun and games when it comes to the reliability of this vehicle. 2005 seems like it was a bad model year for a lot of manufacturers and the Mini Cooper was one of these.

BMW’s are pretty nice cars, and they’ve been building cars for a very long time. However, every vehicle manufacturer will run into some problem with a particular model once in a while.

Ford Fiesta
This car has been manufactured for quite some time, and so it wouldn’t be a surprise to hear there are some complaints from owners out there. However, there were also years of this particular model which anyone should beware of.

Jaguar X-Type
This company makes a pretty nice car when it comes to the Jaguar, but there are some models to beware of when looking for one. The worst models are the 2014 XF, 2002 X-TYPE, 2000 S-TYPE, 2008 S-TYPE, and the 2003 X-TYPE.

Cadillac SRX
Cadillacs are fairly nice luxury cars for the money, but they also are not without their problems as with any vehicle manufacturer. Luckily for Cadillac owners, the engine and transmission would seem reliable.

Mercedes Benz E350
When it comes to Mercedes, you’re not likely to find a lot of problems with these cars. However, the 2006 E350 had a lot of complaints about engine problems.

Hummer H3
First introduced in 2005, the H3 was the smaller of the Hummer models and was built by GM as a traditional SUV. You could also get the midsize pickup model called the H3T. It had a 3.5 Liter straight 5-cylinder engine but in 2007 the engine was updated to a 3.7L LLR engine.

Nissan Pathfinder
The Pathfinder makes it on our list with a not so surprising problem with the 2005 model year having the most troubles. The major issue was that coolant would leak into the transmission.

Ford Explorer
This vehicle has been in production for a long time, and for the most part, it’s been pretty reliable. However, the 2002 Explorer had the most complaints and was rated as the worst year due to failure and low mileage and the high cost of repair.

And THIS is what happens when car companies demand to have corners cut, use the cheapest, weakest, most inferior quality products and not spend anymore money then they have to, to build cars all so the wealthy owners of the company, get even wealthier from the people who are stupid enough to buy modern garbage cars that require money to constantly be sunken into them.

The problem with the Nissan trucks that started in the early 2000’s and continued for the next 10 years isn’t that the transmission cracks.... that’s not even possible considering that at no point in time does coolant ever run through a transmission. The problem was in the radiators. The radiators were cracking internally between the trans cooler and coolant ports, allowing the coolant into the transmission lines, and vice versa. All of nissans trucks had this problem, and it was a huge disaster if it happened. Then on top of that, Nissan comes out with the CVT transmission a couple years later. You’re lucky if you get 30k out of one of those shitboxes, and literally no one rebuilds them. You either replace it with a new unit, or roll the dice with a used one. I can’t believe at this point that Nissan is still in business. They make one of the worst products on the market today.

In blows my mind that European cars still have such a foothold in the American market. Daimler ran Chrysler into the ground when they bought them out, and now fiat is going to finish them off. The Jeep namesake has become a complete joke, none of their products are worth a damn. They crank out nothing but cheap rental car fodder. I’ve yet to see a Chrysler product that doesn’t blow out an evaporator after about 4 years. Nothing like getting hit with a $2000.00 repair right after your car goes out of warranty. Not to mention Chrysler’s class action law suit they have against them for knowingly sending out literally millions of trucks across all their product lines with faulty TIPM’s. They’re on national backorder, and if the fuel pump relay fails (which is common-it’s integral to the module and you can’t replace it) you’re done. Your truck isn’t going anywhere.... I’ve seen it happen quite a few times.
The liberty’s have a similar problem with the BCM’s. Where Chrysler chose to put them is a place that water commonly tends to go if you accidentally leave your windows down while it’s raining. I’ve seen quite a few BCM’s short out in different ways. One customer had the AC relay portion short out, so no AC. Can’t have that in Florida... another customer had the windshield wiper relay section short out. No wipers isn’t an option anywhere. Problem is, try finding a BCM for a 2005-2006 Liberty. They’re discontinued. So at that point, your car is junk. This is going to be the single biggest problem with newer cars-finding electronic control units for them. Manufacturers aren’t going to continually produce control units for these vehicles, it wouldn’t be cost efficient. On vehicles that have the VIN written into the control units, you can’t swap used units in, unless they can be re-written. So, unless people are constantly refurbishing these units, the cars will eventually become obsolete. Probably exactly what the manufacturers want... I think this is going to be a huge problem for people that don’t want to buy new cars every 10 years, or people who can’t afford a new car and want something used.

Land Rover has always baffled me. On those nature/adventure shows you always see the guys riding through the African plains in land rovers... that always made me laugh because I often wondered how many times they ended up walking back, getting eaten by lions, or calling a buddy that’s got a Chevy truck to come pick them up. Land Rovers (and British cars in general) have been turds since the dawn of time. You add Lucas electronics into the mix, and you got yourself a real shitload of ass. VW, Audi, BMW, MINI, Land Rover, Jaguar.... they’re all garbage. If I was forced to drive a European car, I’d take a Benz, since they’re the only ones that make a somewhat decent product. I don’t understand people’s fascination with European cars. Maybe it’s the stupidity of “if it costs a lot, it must be good” thinking? I don’t get it. I’ve been a mechanic for 22 years, and I’d never own a European vehicle.

I had a Nissan Xterra before and oooh my god it was a nightmare! Being I've only ever owned Nissan cars I've never had issues with them unti I had the Xterra. Traded that in for a Nissan Titan.. big mistake that was a huge money pit.. got a 2007 Chevy 1500 and never had issues with it, so much so I gave it to my brother and got the 2014 model and I've been happy to own it! Nissan is just not what it used to be..

The Shortcomings of This Car Is Very Small trunk capacity and Headlight That Does Give enough To Show The Nearest Pothole. Can Anyone Imagine Chicago With No Potholes? This is The City Potholes And High Crimes. I Hope Mayor Lori Lightfoot Will Turn It The Vice Versa.
