My Setup ► amzn.to/1RguNUH
My Gear ► amzn.to/1RkXKLN

Various people have asked me to demonstrate the Ninja's ability to get to 60MPH. People have also been very interested if the bike has enough power to pass or overtake other traffic on the road while cruising at 60MPH.

In regards to the zero to sixty segment, I really feel that my take off is what's hurting this the most. If you can see past my slow clutch release into first gear, it would probably shave off a few seconds.

I try to demonstrate (quite crudely) both of these situations in this video.

gtdrummerdude In reply to Hamilton 2wheeler

Hamilton 2wheeler I used to have one of the older style 250s and I had no trouble cruising 80 mph on it. Actually the pre-2008 250s are really good touring bikes for long distances.

Careful when riding in the rain. The first 15 minutes of rainfall pulls that oil out of the ground making the roads slick

Though with a bigger engine I'm in 1st gear and right at 60 mph, which I top out at 175 I believe.

I've been sort of tempted to get one of these after I pass my test but it seems very comparable to my current 125 (which is scary to overtake on) so maybe I'll just pay a bit more and go for a 600.

    • gtdrummerdude
      gtdrummerdude In reply to 6Twisted

6Twisted Those are fun. Little faster than the 250. I've been wanting to buy an older 250 and do an engine build just for fun.

    • gtdrummerdude
      gtdrummerdude In reply to 6Twisted

6Twisted A 250 is a lot faster than any 125 lol. They are 35 hp. The older 250s are excellent for touring long distances. They hold 80 mph easily and will do 100.

    • Foolius
      Foolius In reply to 6Twisted

Yeah, 250s are fine for the city and twisties, but they really aren't a highway bike. They'll do it, but it isn't ideal if it's a regular part of your riding. You could also look into a 500 or 650 instead of the 600, if you're looking for something a little more tame.

How fast is it with a passenger. Can it go the speed limit down highways and possibly an interstate with a passenger? (75mph)

      nate In reply to nate

I was a little nervous the first day i bought mine because i live in a small town. So my first real riding experience outside of the motorcycle safety course was through a big city and then down  a highway for an hour and a half at 65mph.  Atleast after that i felt super comfortable on the motorcycle.

i ended up getting a 2006 ninja 250 and mine can get up to 95ish mph and atleast 90 with a passenger. It's definitely a lot of fun for a first motorcycle.
