Today I will show you the rock crawling test and forest run of my WPL C24 Toyota hilux which I have built from the kit.

Following Review credit : smallscalerc.com

Following up the success of models such as the C14 “Hercules” trail truck, and the B-1 and B-24 military trucks, WPL has released a new model in their 1/16-scale lineup. The C24 features the same cab design as the C14, but rather than an open, flatbed, you’ll find this truck features a standard pickup truck bed and optional cap. While it’s a small visual difference, it’s one that the radio-controlled scaler community has been interested in for quite a while.

Available in both kit and ready-to-run (RTR) configurations, the C24 utilizes the same electronics setup as found in other WPL models. While this truck isn’t quite a hobby-grade machine, you can get it close to one with a few internal modifications (such as an ESC, steering servo, and battery upgrade).

RC With Popeye In reply to bi pantera

@bi pantera no waterproofing yet. Nothing much happens to motors and LEDs. Battery and esc were kept inside a bit higher thus no issues. Anyhow you just need to waterproof the esc and receiver and the battery compartment if you want to submerge it. Will be waterproofing in one of the upcoming videos.

+jhon vargas pinzon No, the drive shaft are plastic. But the axle is metal. The minimum upgrade required is metal axle. As the plastic lasts for 5 min.

    • Joseph Cachia
Joseph Cachia In reply to Joseph Cachia

I did notice the battery, but it still seems to topple backward a bit too easily.. I still have to setup mine properly , but I have put 25grams of lead BB's in the front tyres. They move freely inside the tyre , so they are always at the very bottom no matter what angle. that is the lowest and best possible place to put weight. .. might add a little to the rear. but when it is climbing the weight of everything else is on the back , so I think there is no need for it. Obviously this has the opposite effect going down , so better not add too much more to the front.Still have to test this out however.

One more thing I have a problem with is the rear drive shaft sometime comes apart with torque. I ordered the metal shafts , but have not got them yet.

Another thing i did to mine , is cut a bit of plastic from the inside , above the transmission , this way I can slide in a 7.2 ni-cd which is too wide to fit, so i can place it length wise ... it has 6 cells not 5 like the standard one.

I also did the LED lights mod switchable from the TX . I used a 2$ servo ( cheapest/smallest I could find ) from ebay.
      https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SG90-9G-Gear-Micro-Servo-Motor-RC-Robot-Arm-Helicopter-Airplane-Camera-Platform/283031529664?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&var=583406296631&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649
dismantled it , removed the POT and put a connector instead of the motor. Now most youtube videos, tell you to put 2 resistors in W formation instead of the POT . when i did this ,it did not work , it was always putting out 4.6v. I removed the resistors and could have +/- 4.6v . so in my case it worked without the resistor.. no idea why. I also put in the resistor that came with the kit, in series with the LEDs ( which are in parallel to eachother ) . This video is a good one, but there are loads more
