I learned not to attach my tank bag with carabiners after the magnets fell out.... Last week I was passing my house in about 80.. Started downshifting.., as I was getting onto the shoulder at about.. I don't know I'd say 50 as I was turning right the f****** carabiner somehow lodged in the steering locking the wheels turning to the right. Within an instant I was at that point of no return and I knew I was going to eat s*** hard., instantly I thought of my friend who had a cop pull right in front of him sending him on a superman... Somehow I spring straight up in the air off my pegs like a cat or something.. The bike was plowing my sliders through the dirt on the side of the road... I think i closed my eyes at that point, but somehow I landed on my feet did a couple little flips and rolls. Could have been a lot worse. But I got up and threw that f****** tank bag across the street into the weeds.

Stones being kicked up from the vehicle in front, had full racing leathers on and a stone hit me in my shin. Even though the boots have plastic for protection, it felt like I have just being shot.

You can always go lower except when you can't and just slide to the ground ? That doesn't make any sense.

If you're smart enough to take the Motorcycle Safety Course, they'll tell you most of these. And a bunch of other stuff. I HIGHLY recommend taking the course to everyone who asks me about buying a Bike. Even experienced Riders can benefit. It'll show all the bad habits we've picked up😜

The 1st time you see a cop, you will instinctively grab the brakes hard and almost fly off your bike.....gotta break that bad habit from car driving πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ

I will add kind of related to your comment about downshifting too fast. When I first rode my CBR, had a girl on the back and flying down the highway. if you let off the gas too fast, the compression is so high on those sport bikes, it can literally throw you off the seat from engine braking alone.....so I needed to learn to ease off the gas after revving up to 9000 rpm+

Thx, I'm a 45yr old (Belgian) who has recently signed up for bike riding classes and have a scheduled license exam end of may. Ordered a bike already too, yolo right? Of course I'm a bit scared about all the horror stories of crashes, people dying or getting paralyzed but then again, I'm doing over 50.000km/year in a car and I risk getting in an accident there too. I'm not a 'stupid' driver and figure I'll be pretty careful anyway, not planning on racing that bike like a madman. The most important tip I keep remembering from my mate who rides for over 20 years is... "always think you're invisible, nobody sees you, nobody gets out of the way for you and you never, ever assume you're safe".

another odd thing like you mentioned with the tractor trailers in this really probably doesn't apply to anybody anymore because they're replacing all the drawbridges but the metal grate on a drawbridge once you get up to the top of the bridge and you hit that metal grate you just kind of loosely hold the handlebars and let the bike do it it's going to do cuz it's going to Wabble back and forth and make you go through the little channels and there's nothing that you can do about it and it will freak you out the first time it happens so just let the bike do it it's thing loosen up don't tense up

I'm just going to put this out there and it might not be applicable to everybody but like the Yamaha dealership by my house obviously sells more than Yamaha but how you get around the insurance is you apply for a Yamaha credit card and you purchase the motorcycle with the Yamaha credit card and since you hold the title to the motorcycle and there is no lien holder in the State of Florida you do not have to insure motorcycles as long as they're owned meaning no lien holder
