Mediocre instructor. Didn't even explain the difference between counter weighting and counter steering.

some people wouldnt mind the constant stream of info hes trying to impart on him, but that approach isnt th ebest generally. Let the dude get a feel for the bike first. Dont immediately start asking him to do small trivial maneuvers. The guy handled it well but next time id let the person get comfortable with learning and riding for a few minutes.

The first time I rode my bike I rode around my block for like 30 minutes. There is no way you will feel comfortable riding in traffic with 30 minutes of riding. I rode around my neighborhood for a week before I rode in the city. Takes about 1-2 months to get it good, after that you slowly pick up something new. Takes about five minutes to learn how to ride it and get it moving but takes at least a month to feel comfortable.

I gotta say, driving a manual trans car helped me a lot. I never sat on a bike in my life. But with a few hours of practice per day, by day 3 I felt good enough to go on the main streets at 35-40mph in traffic. Without any manual transmission experience it would take longer for sure. The shifting is what gets people, especially feathering the clutch.

50 km/h counter steering. Why was he making light of that? That's your only option at 50 km/h. Physics. Turn your bars right and no matter what you will go left.

The moment he said 'eh?' I knew he was Canadian. I've been living in british columbia now for 6yrs and Canadians say "eh" at the end of their sentences from time to time

I learned to ride for the first time on an 04 ninja 250 named Tsubaki that i bought from a shady craiglist guy i met in a walmart parkinglot. I bought the bike and learned to ride while i drove it home an hour away on the interstate. Was completely terrifying and exilerating at the same time. It was instant love. Now i ride Tsubaki every day for the past 5 weeks even though it's barely above freezing here right now in the day. LIVE TO RIDE-RIDE TO LIVE!
