We think the F-150 will continue to ride high in 2018. With styling tweaks and a new 2.7L EcoBoost, we decided to take the popular pickup for a road test.

Since 2015 The 13th Generation Of Ford F150 Trucks Has a 3.5 Liter Naturally Aspirated V6 (Which Replaces The 3.7 Liter V6 That Debuted In 2011 Which is The 12th Generation)

Did they mean to make the lights and front end that ugly? Also I guess pretty soon the Head lights are going to be in the back of the car as they keep pushing them further and further to the edges of the front end not resembling eyes at all anymore. Now they are wrapped around to the side of the car.

We rented one last weekend with the 3.5 ecoboost and FX4 package. A few things I liked were how fast that fucker was. Gas mileage was real good for a half ton pickup. The ride was nice too. Don't like the slab sided, squared off look but I guess it's a matter of taste. The interiors are decent too although the new Rams have the best now. My biggest complaint? The aluminum body and that God awful start/stop system. I don't care if it saves an extra mile to the gallon, there is no way you can tell me that is good for an engine. I also suspect that engine will get hot while in tow mode due to those two turbos. Guess someone will find out. Oh and the 4 wheel drive is real easy to use and works well. Last F150 I owned was a 98 and that was the first one with the third door. They have come a long way!

      That's insane for a truck I had a 96 Camaro Z28 that did 0 -60 in 5.6 and 14.0 in the quarter mile

Just purchased my 18 f150. I was surprised there were quite a few diesel motors on the lot. My sales rep heavily discounted them to me because he said they were extremely slow to sale them. I declined and went with the 5.0 which wasn’t easy to find either. Guess that 3.5l EB is the most popular model.

Why do reviewers not track test the mighty 5.0 Coyote V8? It has roughly 80hp more to the wheels than the previous 5.0 V8 mated to the 6 Speed. The V8 screams when you hit the gas. 395 HP / 400 Torque. 2018 V8 is legendary.

+Mr. Unorthodox For a guy claiming others are misinformed, you sure spread a lot of misinformation. My 2.7 4x4 Super Crew is rated to tow 7600 pounds. And it makes torque at a lot lower RPMs than the 5.0, which is why it's quicker. Yes the 5.0 is a good engine and tows and hauls more than the 2.7, but the ability of a 2.7 truck is more than enough for 95% of half ton buyers and no slouch.

Completely untrue. A 2011 F150 5.0 has 360HP/380lb-ft. A 2015 5.0 has 385HP/387lb-ft. So the difference between the “previous” V8 and current is a whopping 10 horsepower and 13lb-ft. The 0-60 times have barely changed. And the ten speed is far less smooth than the 6-speed. As for performance, the 2.7L is quicker than the V8. The 5.0 is a revving engine. The 2.7 gives you immediate punch off the line. Drive both...the difference is quite noticeable.

I drive a 2017 XLT 5.0 *2WD* supercab. Curb weight is only 4,100 LBS with the aluminum body. While most of the road tests are done with the heavier trucks with 4WD, crew cabs, and heavier accessories (such as Raptor), keeping the curb weight down makes the 5.0 2WD the *sleeper* "Lightning" trucks of today. essentially 1 HP for 10 LBS power to weight ratio is no slouch!!
