The Honda Civic is back! The once-popular executive sedan returns after an almost seven-year absence, packing a diesel engine, more equipment, and even greater space and comfort. But can it live up to the lofty standard set by its path-breaking predecessor? Hormazd Sorabjee drives both the diesel and petrol versions to find out.

I think it's a bit pricy considering the current rage for SUVs and the alternatives in the market for example Elantra, which is the global competitor for civic

Highly overpriced and overtly underpowered, looks like politics inside Honda is getting the better of its products. Wake up and smell the coffee, with the same price Octavia gives much more in terms of performance, interiors, sound system, et al

      My observations:

      1. Diesel version comes without automatic transmission

      2. Petrol version is highly underpowered unlike its international cousin
It's like old wine in new bottle

      3. No performance version for the positioning this car carries

      4. No auto turn lights

      5. Honda has tried too hard to make it the cock-pit feel like its earlier avatar but has fallen flat on its face on its performance

Sadly after long wait I'd still buy the Skoda and maybe stretch and pay for the VRS

Is it just me or does anyone else also think that the car looks absolutely gorgeous from the front?
From the back it does kinda look wierd with the coupe like profile but not bad.

An absurdly over priced and grossly under powered diesel car. It's an executive sedan focusing youngsters; not a family one.

The most miserable thing is this civic was launched in 2016 and now in 2019 they send it to India. Even Pakistan got this in 2017!! I have the previous civic and in looks this one is nowhere compared to that..

That 1.8 I-VTEC should have been provided with a manual gear.... It would have been better..... And why isnt there a 1.5 I-VTEC engine provided in India... It would have been awesome.

Still in love with my old 2012 Civic, i have experienced this one internationally but somehow never managed to be as impressed as the older generation Civic, somehow just cannot get over the Civic and still feels fresh after a god 7 years of extensive ownership. Personally, the new one seems a little over-designed in parts and rear seat comfort is majorly compromised. Yet, happy to have the brand Civic back and i am sure there will be a lot of new Civic fans.Cheers!
