Wasn’t the original 3.5 eco a ticking time bomb? Heard they had major reliability issues......maybe ford have now fixed? Only time will tell.

Not saying these engines don't make power, they do, BUT did Ford fix the PCV issue yet? What about the fuel contamination in the engine oil problem? Did ford increase its recommended oil change interval yet? Did Ford fix the turbos' oil consumption yet, that lead to early o2 sensor and cat failures? Is the economy now anywhere close to the EPA estimates? In other news, did Ford fix the leaky optional power sliding rear window? Is Ford going back to a all steel box? Etc etc...

Why are you doing 70 in 45 zone ? That's not safe driving. If you wanted to do around 70, take the interstate.

      Regular Cab Nation

I have test driven "loaded" trucks and I went with a 2018 F150 XL Regular Cab Fx4 because I don't like having a center counsel and like being able to see the box, not back seats. And it also has the 2.7 Ecoboost that the 5.0 can not touch in terms of low end torque. I wanted the 5.0 until I test drove the 2.7. I admit that the 5.0 sounds nice, but it still isn't an old fashoned v8. It is high tech, complex, and loaded with emissions and fuel economy crap the same way that the ecoboosts are, minus the turbos. Also correct me if I'm wrong, but wouldn't an engine that runs at low rpm all the time last longer than an engine that must reach high rpm to get enough power to pass and go uphill? The more times that the engine spins, the more wear there is on the moving parts. And the 2.7 has an iron block rather than the aluminum of the 5.0. I also know people that have 5.0s with problems and people with ecoboosts that have had no problems at all. If the ecoboosts turn out to have lots of turbo problems later, the turbos will become somewhat cheaper than they are now. Did you notice many fleet trucks (at least around my area) have ecoboost engines and not N/A V6 or V8 engines? Police cars are ecoboosts now too. If these turbos turn out to be bad, there will be a huge demand for them in many years which will drive down the price. The ecoboosts are the new modular engines (not literally) since they are used heavily in fleets and police use nowadays (at least in my area). The parts will be cheaper in a few years and I doubt that police departments and big companies (Spectrum/time warner and many others) would take a major gamble on almost all of their vehicles using ecoboost engines.

I'm thinking about getting one in next few days. Looking at a 2018 3.5L EcoBoost vs 5.0 in Lariat and XLT packages. I've been test driving them test driving them the past few days, you still like yours? I was surprised by how well the 3.5L felt in the Lariat I drove. The 10 Speed transmission is just great. They had one lifted up with a 6" lift rolling 35's and it managed them pretty well, considering it's a 3.5. Any input would be appreciated.

Baldwin Creative I had the 5.4 F150, the first 3.5 Ecoboost and now the 17 gen 2 Ecoboost. I drive the 5.0 as a work vehicle. The Gen2 is by far the best. The torque feel and mpg is worth it. It doesn’t sound like an old pushrod or anything but I have my Mustang for that.

The 2017 ten speed constantly searches for gears in traffic. The four door rear suspension bounces on small bumps even at 35 psi. It rides worse than my old 2001 F150 regular cab truck.

Lets agree to disagree. I have a 2018 lariat 3.5 ecoboost second gen with the 10 speed transmission and I don't even notice it shifting at all, extrmely smooth. I already put 4k plus miles on it and I'm excited every time I drive it.
