Sharp truck! It sounds like you also considered the XL trim with STX package, but decided against it. What was your primary reason? Was it the center console gear shifter? Or were there other items that you liked better about the XLT Sport?

    • Lonestar Speed
Lonestar Speed In reply to Bill Detamore

Thanks! I weighed all my options and I liked the XLT features and equipment packages way more! One of them the center console shifter yes, but ultimately the two bar grille and the door handles that are body color to the color of truck I got (magnetic), I HATE black plastic door handles it bothers me so much I couldn't do it. Also the running boards come on the xlt sport. Along with way nicer interior trim accents like the chrome air vent trim and fake carbon fiber pieces on the doors etc... I really didn't think the leather seats would fit well in the STX trim interior. Another thing was factory remote start.

Hi there, I’m considering buying a Ford truck but I cant decide between a Ranger or a F150, I dont use it for offroad or towing lol, just need one with 4 doors and an aggressive look. My dream truck is a Ford ranger Raptor but they selling it for 60k....

They are now selling the Ford Ranger Raptor 2019 model here in South America. Its rollin on a 2.0l biturbo engine, Many folks are talking negative about this small engine. Anyone having knowledge about this kind of engine?

Mike A In reply to Andijvie

Dont buy the Ranger. You have to remove the passenger front wheel and eight or 10 clips to remove a liner to access the oil filter. Those things break every time if not every other time and then you have to replace those little clips. And they’re just about the same money as an F150. You’re better off getting an F150 if you absolutely have to choose between the two. Personally, my 2018 F150 is a pile of junk and I’m searching around for advice with several problems I’m having.

If you live in the US they haven't confirmed the ranger raptor yet. for me the ranger will be a good truck but if you plan on having people in the back seat often get the F-150 i've spent some time in the new ranger and the back seat is really tight. on top of that the prices are not that far off from each model so id go with the F150 the interior is huge and extremely comfortable. The ranger feels like a escape on the inside it doesn't give you the feeling you are in a truck.

I looked at many of dealerships and put them up against each other till I got to the price I wanted. Also remember dealers want to sell the vehicle way more than it comes across, it took a few days to work it out to this price, act like its not that important to you that you can go anywhere else if the price isn't what you want (Within reason of course). also keep in mind I live in Houston Tx, there are 30+ ford dealerships within 50 miles they have to be competitive. In TX ford dealers sell more F-150's than anything else so im sure that will affect the price as well.

Any trim level but just make sure you get 4x4 and you should be good to go. I'd suggest the 5.0 V8 or 3.5 Ecoboost just to have overkill when it comes to torque just in case you will need it if you do find yourself stuck in the snow. But I am located in Houston Texas and don't have much experience driving in snow but that's what I would recommend!

I doubt you could feel the difference and they are trucks not race cars they have specific purpose. But for fun the 2.7 would most likely launch better especially once it gets in boost but yes in a 1/4 mile the 5.0 would most likely win. Like I said the are trucks if i want crazy numbers i would have got something else

+Nick Projo I bought a 2018 F-150 STX 4X4 3.73 5.0 2 weeks ago today. I don't hear the sound that you described. I only have 850 miles and have been breaking it in slowly keeping rpms under 2500 and letting it warm up before driving. We'll see what happens... I've done the Katzkin black leather seats w/ front seat heat already. I have a new XLT black leather steering wheel here I have not installed yet. I put the rubber Weathertech style Ford floor mats in it (much better than Weathertech IMO). Also, a Dee Zee bed mat over the factory spray-in bed liner. Next up, Ford tailgate dampener, either Flowmaster or Borla cat back exhaust, BBK throttle body, Roush cold air intake, a 5 Star Tune w/ N Gauge, and remote start. Haven't decided on putting a Whipple on it or not. I love the look of the new Lightning style F-150's Pioneer Ford is making. Might make mine a 4 door Lightning......

Aaron Jones if you do, listen for a dog whistle noise coming from the throttle body ! I bought a 2018 f150 5.0 and that’s all I hear now! It’s around 1800 rpm when shifting. I test drove 5 others after I bought it and they all do it, you can you tube f150 5.0 whistle... I’m looking for a buy back or trade to ecoboost. Cold air intake will make it worse trust me !

NEVER buy on payment. Nobody with car buying skills would ever do that. Your just asking to be taken advantage of. Search youtube for a guy who does videos on car buying. Earl On Cars, I believe. He is a dealership owner in S Florida who tells it like it is. Buying a vehicle is a game, you need to know the rules. Generally, you can take 18-22% off the MSRP and be at dealer cost. But the actual dealer cost will vary due to manufacturer incentives to the dealers. Like sell 100 Ford Escapes in June and get a $100,000 bonus. Dealers will sell a vehicle below their cost if they know your car sale will push them pass tge magic number to get a bonus check with the sale. Always shop around a few dealers in your area. Know your options and their individual cost. Heck, look at the make, model of what you want on autotrader and compare prices. Also, know your sales tax rates in each area you shop. My town in IL is 8.75% although I live in the county and it's only 6.5%. If I buy local, I pay more. If I buy in MO, I pay my county rate of 6.5%.
And always buy on the last 2 days of the month only. Dealers are looking to make their numbers on those days and will deal. Lastly, deal with the sales manager and not the sales people. The highest paid people at most dealerships are the General manager, sales manager, finance manager and service manager. The rest work on commission. There is a lot to learn if you have never played the game. Salespeople are full of questions and everyone one of those questions is geared to find out how they can screw you. I do want to say this, I have bought 5 vehicles over the internet and had them shipped to me without ever seeing them in person and have had good luck each time and might do it this time in a few weeks. Generally, 70 cents to $1.15 per mile depending on what you p/u and delivery points are.
I've used an auto hauling broker out of Georgia each time with good rates and good drivers.
      Good luck!
